A few hints please...

ah yes of course, but i don't think it will take to long to learn, their a a thread on here that tells you how to over clock from the beginning and its very straight forward just take your time.

Even if you wasent going to overclock the E6400 its stock speed is 2.13ghz i think thats more than enough thats my point of view.

if you dont think you will overclock just say and ill modify some of the parts for you so your under a grand but with the E6600?

Entirely up to you :):)

cheers man, but realistically, is there actually much difference between a 6600 and a 6400? at stock i mean?

yeah, that sounds good man

cheers buddie

feel like i should be paying for this service

The E6400 stock speed is 2.13ghz with 2mb of L2 Cache and the
E6600 stock speed is 2.4 ghz with an L2 Cache of 4mb

So thats your call, what will you be using the pc for again and in the furture?

if you could do that would be great

but yeah, on the whole gaming, i go for the resoloutiong of 1680 by 1050 and dont really wanna have to be sweating by the time crysis and the sorts roll around...

Ok heres what i have so far, all the parts you've listed.

CPU - Intel Core 2 DUO E6400 £149.21 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-127-IN

CPU Cooler + Heatsink - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro £16.44 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-017-AR

Motherboard - Asus P5B Deluxe £123.36 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-150-AS

Memory - Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator £205.61 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-124-CS

Graphics Card - BFG GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB £399.49 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-035-BG

Power Supply - Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular £70.49 inc VAT http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-005-CS

The E6400 will overclock above the E6600 speeds quite easyily so no need to get the E6600.

If your looking to overclock you will need another CPU Cooler and Heatsink the one that comes with the Processor just wont cut it.

Total : £976.30

Good spec, I personally would get the OCZ ram that is on offer this week though and save £40. I would also change the cooler to a Scythe Ninja, may as well really :)

@OP keep the 6400, you'll get 3.2ghz no problem with it and probably more.

Here it is

Ive put in the Corsair 620 instead of the 520 watt PSU because once you start upgrading in the furture you will need a higher wattage power supply
