A few hints please...

If you push them too far once you have saved the settings it will keep restarting so you just enter the bios again and change it.

But sometimes it restarts and goes to like stand by mode and you cant do anything so you have to turn the pc off take the bios battery out and that should reset it self or reset the jumpers.
 
They have thermal throttling, if that's what you mean. When they get too hot they revert to a "limp-home" sort of mode where they drastically slow themselves down to keep from burning up.
