A Harry Potter thread.

In the books, she tries to kill Ginny, then taunts Molly Weasley about Fred dying and how Ginny is going to go the same way. Molly's blind fury causes her to kill Bellatrix (and to shout, "not my daughter, you *****!") - ordinarily she wouldn't be any match for Bella but in this case, she's avenging her child's death which gives her the edge.

It was a great part of the book actually, because Voldemort witnesses it and is furious, tries to kill Molly and that's when Harry puts a shield charm round Molly, reveals himself and shows that he survived the killing curse again, leading to their final battle.

Ahh that sounds much better. I understand they have to edit a lot in order to get the run time down but that sounds like a scene worth doing! Shame.

One thing I've also wondered is how close Avada Kedavra is to Abra Cadabra. All those years watching Ali Bongo, if he'd just had one too many the night before he could have wiped out a whole class of nine year olds.

Apparently Avada Kedavra is the original useage of Abra Cadabra. Abra Cadabra is a later Latin spelling of the original Aramaic word.

Apparantly.

So she says.

Indeed, i was pretty happy with all the changed made for the sake of time and advancing the story, with this single exception.

Whatever you say about Rowling, it's difficult to deny that this final scene in the book was built up to an epic climax. It was incredibly tense and each moment fit perfectly. Bellatrix's death causing Voldemort to go bananas and coming very close to wiping out 3 major characters were it not for Harry finally revealing himself, leading into the most important speach in the series. Harry reveals how he and Dumbledore have been thwarting Voldemort for months (In the book, Vldemort doesn't know they've been killing Horcruxes until the Goblin tells him, and he knows nothing about why his wand wont work against Harry), and even addresses him as "Riddle" and "Tom", proof that he has far outgrown his fear of Voldemort, which drives Voldemort to fury.

Honestly, if you don't have the time or inclination to read the books, just go to a library and read the penultimate chapter of book 7. It's awesome.

Thanks for sharing this :)

Just got back from seeing it. Really enjoyed it overall but like many thought some scenes were rushed, especially Molly Weasley/Bellatrix and the finale with Lord V.

Molly vs Bellatrix was SO disappointing. It's one of the best bits in the book!

Also didn't like Neville in the last film. I know the book focuses on him a lot but he's not a very good actor and all the scenes with him just weren't very good.

Overall I did enjoy the film but it didn't do the book proper justice.

It seems they went for the blockbuster big effects and tried to make the film funny.

Detracted from what is an epic conclusion in the books.

Yeah the ending could have been AMAZING.
In the book you had the death eaters on one side, the order and the rest on the other.
Voldemort would keep silencing them but the good guys would cheer and break the spell!

Was excellent.
