A Level Results Day - Eeek

Good luck to all and remember, its not the end of the world if you get bad results. Just keep a level head and go through clearance, you can get depressed after business is done!

I got naff results (CDD) and i scraped into university, but turns out it was the best thing i did.

Not as good as I was expecting

Business -B
ICT - C
History - U (**** subject anyway, not surprised)
Physics - U (1 mark off a E, so annoyed!)

Got accepted to Nottingham Trent with CCD or CDD not quite sure which the pieces of paper were contradicting. But I got accepted anyway!

Just picked up my AS results:

Film: B
Media: D
English Literature: E (messed up the coursework)

Therefore it looks like I won't be continuing on with English Lit next year as a D is required to continue on to A2. Basically I've now got to pick up another AS and I have no idea what to choose.

Just got a call from my GF, she got -

English - C
Textiles - C
RE - D

She's not happy with the results espically English as she really wanted a B.

Looks like it'll be a sex free night tonight :(

Just got my AS results, I'm pretty chuffed :D
Maths - A
Further Maths - A
Computing - A
Physics - A
Geography - C
I was hoping for a B in Geog and really wasn't expecting an A in physics at all.

I know many of the people on here are relatively clever types, but it's important to remember that if you don't get the grades you want, it's not the end of the world.

You can always find a way into the career path of your choice if you try hard enough, are patient enough and want it enough.

I didn't get great A level or degree results, and whereas I started pretty low for a relatively autocratic company, i'm now in a good job in a much better company, where there's a lot of prospects and its a great place to work.

Be level headed, don't panic and look at the situation objectively.

Good luck.

To those who are disapointed with their AS results, it is not necessarily the end of the world and you can turn things back around. I did relatively little work for my AS exams and got three C grades and an E grade.

I was dissapointed since I knew I could do much better and it was a wake up call to my arrogant ways of thinking I would be fine without revising. As a result, I went ultra turbo the next year - handing in all homeworks left right and centre before the due date to make sure I got the best predicted grades possible. As a result of these good references from teachers, I was able to get all 6 university offers I applied for. I ultimately retook all my AS exams (except 2) over the year and ended up with three A grades.

This isn't a 'woo look at me' post by any means, I just wanted to show that if you are dissapointed with you AS results it is far from over in terms of university applications. With a bit of (relative!) hard work, you can certainly turn things around :)

I did 5 ASs and 4 A2s, it was just the way they taught apparently "intelligent" kids :p

Anyone who couldn't cope did 4 and 3...

Speaking as someone who did his A-levels several years ago, I found them to be a waste of time in the end. Weren't good for anything but university entry. I would have been better off on 2-3 vocational qualifications and worked in retail alongside that... as always, hindsight is a *****.

I had shocking A level results way back when (DDDE I think), my fault for not doing any work, finding them very hard, and just not caring.

Still, went to uni, did a degree I enjoyed, still hadn't realised that doing no work was bad until the last year so came out with an average degree.

Got a good job after uni, have moved jobs once since and can honestly say I doubt I'd be doing anything better in this location if I'd have scored top marks. Granted if I'd moved away the higher marks would open more doors, but not found it a problem down here :)
