Ok this is a serious thread (for once)!

In september I am going to be taking 4 A levels:
English Language
English Literature
History
Geography

I am then going to drop History at AS level, I was wondering if anyone had already done these subjects and if anyone can tell me the work load or any tips on getting through these subjects.
Thanks :)

I'm taking English Language and i took Geography as an AS. It is stupidly hard and the coursework will kill you. English Language is a fantastic subject and i am lucky enough to have good teachers.

I'm assuming you got B's in GCSE for all of those subjects?

English Lit is the only one of those subjects I also do and it's difficult (depending on which spec you do). Be prepared for lots of reading and writing, as well as plenty of contextual work. I've never done so much history before!

Won't know results until August.

isnt 4 A lvls a lot of work? i think i only did 3 and i had tonnes to do

Its standard nowadays for the student to take 4 A-Levels and proceed on dropping one of those when you go into A2. Depends on the subjects but yes, looking at what she has chosen, it will be a lot of work - both English A-Levels and Humanities.

True but usually you have some sort of idea with predicted grades and you can see your current grade if the subject has some sort of coursework involved.

Oh dear, I'm really looking forward to it though.
I'm predicted A*/A in geography, B/C in History and B in English literature and language.

I did Geography and English Lit for A-levels.

Prefered Geography by a mile, hence the reason i'm now doing it as a degree.

Geography A-level is nothing like GCSE, just so you know.

What do you plan to do after your A levels? You have chosen 4 subjects that arent that dissimilar.

If you havent decided what you want to do after, which may include going to uni I would suggest opting for more sciency subjects, often regarded as more academic and a damn lot more useful for getting into uni with.

Yeah thats right. Don't think I could do 4 full A levels, I would probably die from stress. :p

well don't do history if you are predicted B/C

i'd suggest doing maths as well, keeps your options open at uni etc
do you know what you want to do at uni?

This is what i discovered. I was getting As for both pieces of my coursework, a B overall as i didn't do so well on the exam. Go into A-Level, completely different and a lot harder.

I now loathe the words 'Case Study' -_-;;

I'm so close to the end yet still can't be bothered to put in the work to just tip myself over the egde. Yeah so don't lose the enthusiasm after the last term-break, all of my friends have too.

I am going into primary school teaching, and yes i even know which degree I am going to do. It is a 4 year course, 1 year taken up by work experience. I can specialise in 2 subjects which is going to be maths and ICT. I don't need to have taken these as A levels so it will be ok.
Now i just have to find a university, but not until I need to lol!
Far too much planning ahead so far lol! :p

I can't comment on any of those subjects but im in my second year at college doing a BTEC in IT. The BTEC is equal to 4 A levels and sure is a lot of work, the first year was a breeze but second year is hell :(

It will be useful though, surely, to have more than a GCSE in something that you plan to devote the rest of your career to.

You should really be doing these at A level standard, it will be beneficial to getting into uni.

ah so those are the easier half A lvls, the full ones i took were hell, you got fed like 10 times more info a week than at gcse lvl and it wasnt easy to take in. i dont remember doing coursework tho?
