A Minecraft Movie

I'm never sure if the actors in these sort of films absolutely hate it but think "**** it, thats a ridiculous amount of money" or if they don't really care.

About to go watch it with my 9 year old and his friend. I'm expecting it going to be rubbish but happy to be surprised

My son and his mates went to see it today, nothing special apparently but they said it was funny and kids will love it so thats probably more on the positive side of my expectations.

I went to see it this evening, I’ve never played the game so had no clue about that side of it. The acting was pretty poor but it was pretty funny.

Cinema was packed full of kids who seemed to laugh at bits and shout in sync at bits so i’m guessing it’ll be a hit with its target audience.

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting, I've never played the game but just about got most references. Kids had to clue me in on a couple. Has a few funny bits that will go over kids heads just enough to keep the adults entertained

$10.5m in presales so probably tracking $70-80m domestic in the US. Not a disasterous result depending on budget and it may have legs.

Critical reception is poor for this film but as weve found over the past few years critical reception does not match audience reception.

But for context Captain America Black Falcon got $12m in presales and Snow White got $7m

6.1 on IMDB, which is not stellar, but still the kind of number Snow White's director can only dream about.

This looks utter garbage :p

I know it's not aimed at me though. It seems they've served the kids up exactly what they want though.

Making a successful film is all about knowing your audience and giving them what they want.

Take note Disney :D

Yup Minecraft smashing it. Men and boys turning out in large numbers for it!!

Look at your target audience and give them what they want. Something that’s been lost the last decade……
