Might be worth a look'in if you have this update installed!

"I think I also have the same problem. Since yesterday when I upgraded Windows, my performance in Warzone has gone from 90 fps on average to 75 fps, even drops below 60 fps (V-Sync off)," yet another user wrote.

The common denominator in the various complaints is the installation of a cumulative update, including KB5001330 for Windows 10 version 2004 (20H1) then KB5000842 and finally KB5001337 for Windows 10 versions 1930 and 1909. .

Seems to be the same here too

" Hi Manuel, Yes, it seems recent windows updates introduced additional stuttering affecting some games. Not only KB you mentioned, but it is also included in newer one. Both KB5001330 19041.928 or 19042.928 and one you mentioned KB5000842 which is 19041.906 or 19042.906. If someone is on .928, then first he need to uninstall KB5001330, reboot, then KB5000842 will be restored if he had that update, so then he need to uninstall it. I can confirm that going back to 19042.899 feels more smoothly in games i play (world of warcraft, cyberpunk) "
After you uninstalled KB5001330>reboot> KB5000842

i think they are just the same update, the KB5000842 was an optional cumulative preview update, while the KB5001330 is the official release.
but yes, if u have installed both, uninstall both.

The first question when Microsoft break stuff, is of course who did it?
But since we are not Microsoft insiders (not to be confused with Microsoft Insiders who often act as unpaid beta testers), that wouldn't mean much to us.
The second question, is what was it supposed to fix?
Highlights
  • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
  • Updates to improve security when using input devices such as a mouse, keyboard, or pen.
The second did sound like something which could potentially affect gamers, as you hardly want extra latency while it makes sure your keyboard is, well, your keyboard?
Or maybe they are tackling keyloggers?

I'll check this out at the weekend ( when I use my PC work all week and family come first lol.

I noticed an impact on frame rates with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Uninstalled KB5001330 and it’s running smoothly again. Paused updates for the moment, hope this gets resolved.

I love one of the comments:

"Users shouldn't be allowed to block updating their pc! There's no good reason to allow this!"

Exhibit 1,724,981 and counting...

And the great thing is this update will likely get pushed again soon, likely still unfixed, even if you take measures to block it.

Thank goodness I'm still running on Windows 7 on the systems I rely on where possible, though sadly time is fast running out on that.

Yeah, I had this too. My in game GPU utilisation plummeted to 30% or so and FPS crashed to 15-20. It was around 40-50 before the update.
