A recent Windows 10 update is trashing framerates and causing games to stutter

Grrrr another broken update - I noticed weird stuttering the other day. I don't have the option to uninstall it though - I'm on the correct updates menu but it just doesn't give me the option to uninstall that specific update. Anyone else had that?

I tried removing it using "wusa /uninstall /KB:5001330" too but got an error message saying I couldn't... wth microsoft?!?

UPDATE :

Last month, Microsoft issued an update for Windows 10 that reportedly degraded performance on a number of PC systems. And a few days ago, the company released another update that resolves those gaming performance issues.

UPDATE 2 :

A small subset of users have reported lower than expected performance in games after installing this update. Most users affected by this issue are running games full screen or borderless windowed modes and using two or more monitors. " - Work around, This issue is resolved using Known Issue Rollback (KIR).

So basically instead of fixing it, it just rolls back to an older windows update? wtf That's what we've been doing lol

They fixed it by rolling back the thing that caused this issue (you will be still using the March 2021 Update). A more "proper" fix will most likely be included in the next big update.

I read it as if you game on one monitor in Fullscreen or Borderless Window Modes you can get issues and if you have two monitors you can have issues in any Mode.

The majority of people will have one monitor and game in Fullscreen Mode.

Wonder if LTSC is affected, at the moment I have held of the latest update on my PC.

Also games very rarely use exclusive full screen mode anymore, most emulate it via windows borderless full screen.

Bit of research it might be related to this vGPU feature, which according to this article is been removed in newer feature updates and isnt been used in server LTSC. So not sure on client LTSC.

First and foremost, it resolves a potential elevation of privilege hitting Azure Active Directory, and then, it includes fixes for recently discovered security bugs related to RemoteFX vGPU.

Microsoft explains that because of all these vulnerabilities, future Windows updates will no longer include this feature, as other secure vGPU options are available, including DDA in Windows Server LTSC releases.
