A return to form: Say hello to Banana MK2, the Italian Prancing Horse (Ferrari 458 Italia)

How do you move an auto when the battery has died (im assuming with no power the gearbox is stuck in 'P'?

A recovery vehicle would just use a booster pack as with more power it allows selection of neutral.

I’ll say it - Bloody Italian electronics! :p :D

Depends on the gearbox tbh, on some automatics (usually older ones) lack of electrical power makes no difference,in the case of an electronically controlled/operated ‘box then you’d - in most cases - just get power to the vehicle via either a jump start or charger.

As above. :)

After 24hr on charge, the car barely started, but it is absolutely fine.

Requesting Ferrari courier me a new battery up so I can fit myself as I want to use the car and don't want to risk it not starting anywhere other than home where I don't have such easy access to an electrical charge point.

Ferrari have agreed to courier a battery to be with me tomorrow, fantastic service and FOC. :)

Honestly, service/support like this is why I'll be mightily tempted to look at main dealers when the time comes to buy something more special than the Noble.

Good of them to offer the flexibility of letting you do it yourself also, as you mentioned could've been a bit of a nightmare to move the car otherwise.

Great service undoubtedly- and I’m sure you’d expect no less....

Just a shame you have to be into the supercar league before they - motor dealers in general - treat customers as they should.

The M3 DCT box which is similar has a manual level to put in Neutral as you can’t put in neutral unless the engine is running.

You lift the gear gaiter on the selector and can manually put the box in neutral

Maybe a manual override on the Ferrari too ?

Ignition on, both paddles held and a few seconds later will select neutral problem is, the battery needs power to do so, if there is a manual release I am not aware and there probably is so will check manual, but problem is diverted and new battery on way so all well. :)

The Clio is making a fun little backup car in the meantime as I don't wanna risk being stranded anywhere other than home, though Ferrari would recover me I'd rather now be trusting someone to load and offload the car correctly or the down time of having it transported to and from dealer when its easier for me to not use for a day or two and then spend an hour changing battery.

I might try that on the e92 and see if it's the case (not sure if you have f80 or not).

I know you’ve got it solved now but can’t you get a jumper box or something (not sure what they’re called in the UK) just to give it a bit of juice to get it in to neutral if it happens again? I’ve had to do it a couple of times with my car when it’s gone **** up
