A return to form: Say hello to Banana MK2, the Italian Prancing Horse (Ferrari 458 Italia)

This has been pretty cost effective so far. Joiner is 160 pd. concrete slab was 1000. Materials probably 2k in all inc electrics. Shutter was 1700 fitted. The guy lives in Endon gibbo. He made the extension so it was a perfect match for the original building which was fairly challenging given the offset roof line. If you want his number let me know. His brother does the groundwork’s.

Yes please mate I’ll drop you a PM buddy because I was quoted £1950 for ground work so if his brother can do that for less then happy let him do it and will discuss with him as the Hanson was gonna cost me around £6500. I’ll drop you a PM. :)
 
i know they are expensive but will these become a real collectors one day ?

458 Speciale absolutely will do!
458 Italia I think the 2014/15 last cars in red/yellow with very low miles will also no doubt as well.

Mine not so much, I got it with 13k miles on and had it two years now and it’s on 24k miles, Ferrari did offer 120k to buy it back outright around Sep/Oct last year and they put 20k profit on so they would have advertised it at 140k and ones sold privately seem to be moving hands at 130-140k.

Ive no plans to sell mine but if I did I’d expect to get 135ish for it so 15k depreciation in two years and 13,000 miles.

458’s hold values quite well certainly better than the 488’s which have come down considerably since I got my 458 but having driven the 458, 488 and F8 the 458 is the most thrilling of the three. :)

geez just looking it must be hard, the 458 yes keep, the gt3rs must have, performante must have, aventador for the looks and penile :), amg gtr, 812 wow superfast, california, corvette, shelby, alfa, m5 v10 keep that v10. your going to need a huge garage @Gibbo :) :)

It’s good for my bank balance to not build a huge garage because I’d then have to fill it lol.

Only Lambo I’d buy would be a Perf or EVO RWD not interested in others and I’d not replace the 458 with either, though maybe an EVO RWD comes very close.

GT3 wise my favourite is the 991.2 manual, I like the looks of the 991.1 RS but it’s PDK only and the 991.2 RS I dislike the looks.

I will keep M5 until Summer as the V10 is lovely and then I’ll test drive some F80 M3 competitions and Alfa’s then upgrade to one of latter, probably the Alfa.

AMG’s I admire them but not a car I’ve ever wanted to own.

No real updates as such, but nearing two years ownership now and shall be time to re-new the warranty soon, thinking of going with two years and shall ring around dealers to see who can offer best rate but was considering also just not bothering considering these cars tend to be reliable but as an engine is probably 20-30k and a gearbox 10-20k then 5k for a couple years peace of mind seems not such a bad deal.

been reading up on warranty extension after the 2 years and the "power warranty" seems to be less comprehensive than the 2 years you get with approved used and nowhere near as good as the Jag ones I am used to
 
Tank of Vpower and around 5-6 launch control runs on the new link road to lay some rubber down to see if can get these Michelin’s gripping though it might be hopeless as they are tyres from 2010-2012 though all have full tread depth and no cracking or drying signs.

Anyway few launch control runs seem to got them gripping better but first most noticeable thing with these MPSS K1 tyres is how much firmer they are compared to regular PS4S tyres in short soft suspension mode has gone from been Cadillac like to rather firm and race mode now feels well race car certainly makes the car feel more alive and in some ways the reducemejt in grip has added more an element of fun as in the dry the car moves around more, feedback levels seem fine. Reading on Ferrari forums those who have had both seem to confirm what I’m witnessing and so I suspect the tyres are fine just grip levels are lower. Question will be if they become a death trap in the wet and if so I’ll grab a new set of PS4S as I did want to try the bew Goodyear Supersports but don’t do them in front size.

Anyway given the car a wash. :D

Just in case people did not see yep I changed the wheels to diamond cut ones and love them. :)

Not that I'll ever be in a position to have such a car, but I'd definitely be replacing tyres that old.
Obviously you drive the car as it deserves, so be a shame for them to let you down when pushing on - no one wants to see another Paul Walker incident (or even such a nice car crashed)

who did the wheels? both Mercs need doing, usually use wheel specialist in Nottm, they are very good but expensive

Top Marques in Fenton as they can do diamond cutting.

The Pzero were useless on anything but a 25c plus day and even then not great and in the wet had no grip.

The MPSS only dry tested and still not properly heat cycled yet due to their age but are miles better than the Pzero and also feel very sporty and direct with harsher ride.

PS4S are grip monsters both dry and wet along with a much better ride quality too and steering still feels direct and sharp even with softer ride.

Id only ever buy PS4S or Goodyear they for a road car driven in all weather I, Michelin and Goodyear are way ahead of competition at present. Continental also very good.

I know there was a discussion somewhere saying how crap pzeros are (possibly earlier in this thread:cry:), but I wonder if they are more "racecar" tuned as they just don't get hot enough on the road. I do feel the PS4s are a bit softer than the PSS when going round corners, it's a bit of an odd sensation.
 
It is interesting how we all look at tyres.

I have a little blacklist now, Pirelli/Bridgestone i'll never buy again. All the cars that had them fitted just seemed to feel.....wrong all the time. As soon as I swapped to Michelins the stars aligned and I felt instantly happier in the car. Now 2 of my cars are on PS4S's and 2 on PS4's (due to not having PS4S's in the smaller sizes :cry:)

Although when I bought mid range brands, I was always impressed by Hankook and Falken.

Smack some brand new black rings on them Gibbo. Although, I am glad I won't have to foot the bill for the rubber on a Ferrari!

I'm just about to get my first set of MPS4S when I get back to the UK in a few days, after years of driving with MPSS on so that kind of "real user feedback" makes me happier with my choice!
