a very quick x6

O rly?
that's quicker than pretty much all common hot hatches on the road.
while there are definately quicker cars out there I don't think a 14 second 1/4 mile is slow...

Well it's not slow no, but "rapid" it is not, neither is 0-60 in 6.5 but that's open to interpretation obviously.

I'd say low 13s is when you start to get to 'rapid', such as the E46 M3 which apparently does it in 13.3 according to Wiki. (Awaits Fox to read this)

9.4 second 1/4 mile?

I suspect not :p

Edit - an example of a 9.96 quarter. A stock M3 is not quite this rapid off the line :p

True, a 3.0 engine is hardly small though.

again, its 2.3 tons (2.2t dry), to make it move like that, i am amazed at its performance

if that performance for a 2.3t+ vehicle is completely normal for a 3.0 engine, show me other examples because i cant think of any

That does weight nearly 2.7T though  but yeah, I do see your point, it is quite quick for a fat ****. :)

The X6 has an 8 speed box rather than a 6 speed though, which I imagine helps acceleration quite substationally, it'll keep in the power band much more. Plus it weighs 500kg less with 30bhp more (assuming it was the 40d not the 30d)

My mate was looking at the 3.0D X6 and top end is 130ish as i recall, sub 9 to 60 so it want barrelling past 130mph!

He ended up with a 330D thankfully ;)

60-100 is nearly 30 seconds. i think my golf is 8 seconds,

8 seconds? Out of a C130 presumably?

It takes about 8 seconds to get 60 in a 1.8T GTI, I somehow doubt a 150bhp 1.8T does 0-100 in 16 seconds, even after you've pretended to tune it with some software you coded :p

That site you are using shows a 335i M Sport, 306bhp twin turbo, does 60-100 in 7.4 seconds. No way on this planet is your Golf only 0.6 seconds behind that :D

whats a c130 and why are you so interested in discussing my golf?

last time the subject came up it was pretty clear there was no way of absolutely verifying its output without putting the engine on a dyno because any mearure bar that has a sarcastic comment following immediately behind it.

A C130 is a transport plane.

He's implying your Golf would only do 60-100mph in 8 seconds if you dropped it out of a plane. I have my suspicions he's probably right, even an R32 with 240bhp and a 6 speed box takes over 9 seconds.

Mildly tuned or not, a 5 speed 1.8T isn't doing it quicker than that.

should be interesting to see. ive got a squiffy video that looks about 8s, i could do a vagcom run tonight, but fox would be nothing without his sarcasm so you know a quip about "anyone can type numbers into excel" would follow, making the whole discussion about the golf pointless

going back on topic, though, the x6 is amazing
