Absolute scum

I have to agree with the above, my dog is part of my family, you hurt my dog and I will hurt you regardless of the law.

atleast the dog is fine, but i can understand how distressing that could be for paul, i'm assuming he has had that dog for a number of years? The dog is his guide everywhere, his best friend and the possibility of losing her would be unbearable. What kind of monster goes out of his way to shoot a blind/partially sighted man's dog, that is just horrific and pathetic

No it's not, the items you mentioned COULD be used as weapons. Guns ARE weapons.

No they aren't. What about skeet/clay target guns? Not a weapon. What about target rifles? The same - not a weapon. Same as all the things I have mentioned - they only become weapons when used as one. It's really very simple you know ;)

Dogs are a source of infinite love. How could anyone hurt a dog? It just baffles me. Especially guide dogs, which are so friendly and well behaved

Scum.

When I was about 10 I had a Cairn Terrier called Bobby and he went missing.
He was eventually found dead and was used as air rifle target practise by lads from the next estate to us.

For once a topic title isn't hyperbole. Dreadful.

Two periods of jury service over recent years have hammered home just how nasty modern society can still be, despite the illusion of civilisation we see on the TV. With the best of intentions we have created a dysfunctional jigsaw of humanity with very wide gaps between the pieces, in which some pretty nasty weeds can grow.

We may live in relatively peaceful and good times, but there's a long way to go still. And sometimes I wonder if we need more surveillance rather than less. Which is as frightening a thought as sharing the streets with such pond life.

Congratulations for derailing the thread with your own weird agenda. Also, you need to learn how to construct an argument much better. The arguments you've used thus far only undermine your stance as they're completely irrational.

Back on topic, that's an awful thing to have happen. I imagine having sight difficulties can lead to feeling somewhat vulnerable at the hands of the general public, but to actually have something like that happen to a guide dog could lead to ongoing stress for both the owner and dog :(
