Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2010, Yas Island Marina Circuit - Race 19/19

What have you done webber !!

He tried his best.

People expect Webber to be able to compete, toe to toe with top class drivers. This is not easy to do.

What we saw today is exactly the reason why RBR made Vettel their No.1 driver. Many people seem to believe that Webber is as good as Vettel. This is simply not the case.

For me, Webber wouldn't even make my top 10 best drivers in F1, in 2010.

so........ if Alonso finishes 3rd webber has to win to beat him?

Alonso 4th, webber still needs to win

alonso 5th, webber needs 1st or 2nd.

have I got that right?

*edit* just to put it out there I am backing Alonso, he is a proper racing driver

Gotta give serious credit to Vettel for that time. Pulling it out over and over again, when he's focused and on it, there is nobody quicker over a lap.

My backing is with Alonso too. I said at the begining of the season it'd be his ;)

... in an RBR car which is about 0.5s/lap faster than any other car on the track...yes. However, stick Hamilton or Alonso in the same RBR car and I feel Vettel would be more often than not, out-qualified by his team-mate.

If Alonso was at RBR, he would've mentally demolished Webber by now...just as he has done to Massa.

Totally agree.

As I thought, Webber choked and it's Alonso's to lose now - especially if Hamilton gets a grid penalty of some kind. :(

Sebastian Vettel storms to pole at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel produced a stunning qualifying lap to take pole position at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Webber has made his life very difficult unfortunately. Still he has a team mate on pole who could maybe do something? I really hope Hamilton isn't penalized for the Massa incident. TBH it didn't look that bad.

My prediction, Alonso will win. :(

Ferrari are gonna protest over Hamilton for blocking Massa now that he qualified infront of Alonso.

Im not so sure, Alonso himself said he wanted Hamilton on pole. I can't quite work out what Ferrari will do, he is more use to Alonso up the front of the field. All Alonso has to do now is finish where he is and its game over for everyone else.

That table isn't right is it? Hamilton was faster than that in Q2 or he wouldn't have been in Q3 :/

I feel that Alonso can take Hamilton off the line. Keeping him behind down the long straight is another matter though. Alonso needs Hamilton up there considering where Webber has qualified.
Alonso would be far better off letting Hamilton chase after Vettel really. Lewis will be driving like a man possessed tomorrow, as he know a win is essential for him, so it would be far better for Fernando's sake to have a desperate, daring Hamilton all over the back of Vettel, and not him.

I think the best thing for the race tomorrow would be both McLarens getting an early pass in on the men in front of them. Then you'd have nearly every driver on the track desperate to get into the position ahead of them. Hamilton would have to face the prospect of holding up Vettel so Button could run at him, Vettel would be desperate to get the lead, and Alonso would be incredibly wary of Webber behind him.

Was going to say the same. It's so hard to say how good Vettel is at qualifying when he has a car that runs riot over the competition.

Speaking of which, well done to Adrian Newey. He deserves that constructors title more than anyone, for a simply outstanding car. :)
