Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2010, Yas Island Marina Circuit - Race 19/19

did he just say button has led hamilton 28% of the season? so thats 72% hamilton been infront of button.

but button has lead 160km more.

Button has lead a race for a greater distance in km (Half of Australia, three quarters of China and half of Monza, a few laps in Japan due to his later stop from the Hard tyre) compared to Hamilton (quarter of Turkey, Half of Canada and Spa) but generally in races (including when they're not leading the race) Hamilton is in front 72% of the time.

The quali & race is shaping up to be one of the all time great's :D

Fingers crossed for Alonso to win the WDC. He'll make me £300 richer.

I'm not a massive Hamilton fan but an Hamilton pole tomorrow wouldn't be a bad thing. Massa or Button need to be up there too, taking points off the RB's.

I certainly hope nobody does any fowl play by crashing into one-another.

Who said F1 was boring? :p

Yup in that situation, as in Vettel/Webber/Alfonso, I reckon Vettel would leave it to the very last second but I'm sure he'd ultimately want the team to triumph. I'm ashamed to say it but I like the new Vettel, I think in the last few races he's changed a fair bit.

Also a new positive is with a new WDC BBC won't have to keep giving Button an interview EVERY single race where he moans about non-existent tyre heat, or some yadayada.

Perfect ending for me would be something similar to Massa when Hamilton won the WDC. Give Alonso hope and 99.9% win it for then Webber to win the WDC instead.

Would be awesome for Hamilton to win the WDC again but I can't see it happening the Alonso, Webber and Vettel all DNF. What I suspect will happen though is Vettel leads, Webber second and Alonso third, Hamilton fourth. The question which no one knows the answer to though is will Vettel move over in this situation?

For Hamilton to win the championship it is only Fred who has to fail to score points. Vettel can finish 3rd and Webber 6th and Lewis will still win the title.

I make no secret of the fact that I want Hamilton to take the championship in some kind of miracle result. I can say for certain I won't make work on Monday if it happens, however I'm not stupid, I do honestly expect Alonso to take the title this year unless the car lets him down. If it has to be a Red Bull, I expect it'll be Webber. No matter how much this forum seems to hate Vettel, and he's hardly my favourite either, if it comes down to him making a choice that allows Webber to win over Alonso, he will do it.

In fairness Vettel hasn't really changed. Recently, he has been qualifying well and then stays out in front and out of trouble.

Make him start in 6th place and then you will see him get bogged down behind slower cars and possibly getting involved in an "incident"...something which we saw happen earlier in the season.

Vettel's pace has never been in question. He is the real deal and is a genuine top line driver who is almost on the same level as Hamilton and Alonso. His problem is that his team keep telling him that he is the lead driver, but on track, Webber never yields to him.

I think now, Vettel understands that the team have no control over Webber and that on-track, if he wants to win, he must beat Webber fair and square, just as he would any other driver on the track, without any "assistance" from his team/pitwall.

Pretty much bang on there.

Vettel need's to improve on his overtaking & calm driving skills. Sometimes his 'go all out, banzai' attitude lets him down. He will no doubt get there.

There has been too many instances this season he's been involved in which I personally think will cost him the 2010 WDC title.

Unless Ferrari release some chickens onto the track to prevent the race from being completed, I do not believe any fowl play will be observed this weekend.

:p

Ladies and gentlemen, a round of applause if you will. It's been a while, but sunama has finally posted something that is actually amusing.

Better late than not at all, I suppose.

;)

Don't worry JRS, I haven't forgotten your prediction of Button finishing ahead of Hamilton this year.

After the race, we shall review all the predictions in the prediction thread to see who managed to make the most accurate predictions. Much fun shall be had in that thread. ;)

The thing is sunama....I posted this a while back:

Indeed. Guess you were wrong when you once said Hamilton would destroy Button if they ever got paired at McLaren, huh?

sunama said:
I would LOVE to see him at McLaren immediately...if only to see Hamilton humiliate him, just as he did to Heikki this year.

:D

This is why I really couldn't care less if my pre-season prediction post doesn't bear any resemblance to the final points tally. Because no matter how far off I am, I'll never be further off than you've been in the past!

And it holds true. Hamilton hasn't 'humiliated' Button, even by your estimation. So my prediction about the order won't come true. So what? The sun will still rise the next day, the Earth will still turn, F1 will still be an utterly infuriating mess....same ol' same ol' ;)

***edit***

Another previous post with some relevance:

And if Hamilton beats Button....so what, my prediction post was wrong. I believe I'll get over the shame and humiliation of such an event!

I'm even more glad that another of my predictions for this season (that McLaren would royally stuff up the relationship between their two drivers) has proven to be completely wrong and that it's RBR who appear to have set themselves up a little inter-garage warzone.

I would like Webber to win at this point. Hamilton just can't do it imo without an act of God. I hope vettel does the right thing. I'm sure ferrari are sandbagging not giving the game away too much.

Very much looking forward to the races. :)

Just had a look, only ONE person got the top 5 right in any order - well done Duke!
