Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2013, Yas Marina - Race 17/19

Must say Ferrari really have gone downhill in the second part of this season. Since the Summer break I can't think of anything exceptional that they've done. The other front runners have clearly developed better cars. Heck, even Mclaren have been giving them a really hard time with the woeful MP4-28.

Seems to me the only teams not having off-track problems are RBR and the three manufacturers (Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes).

McLaren lost Hamilton, Mercedes and Vodafone in a couple of years. All is not rosey in the shiny MTC. I do hope they turn it round. And Ferrari for that matter. The more people in the fight the better.

Good points, but they have replacements for the latter two (Honda and Procter & Gamble). Whitmarsh doesn't seem too happy with Perez, so he may be dumped in favour of Hulkenberg (unless the Telmex $$$ sways him).

I think McLaren are the hardest team to gauge behind the scenes

I also don't think things are that good there. Especially if indeed they do need perez for funds

The Honda relationship will not be the same as it was with merc surely?

Procter & Gamble? Since when? Must be advertising a brand they own? I've not been aware of any major new brands on the McLarens.

Thought it was a works deal. Course Honda would need some customer teams to pay for all that work surely?

I think some are exaggerating the problems at McLaren

Undoubtedly a terrible car this season, and maybe even Whitmarsh not being the right kind of team leader, but Lowe stopped working for them a year ago or so, Hamilton left ( not as big a loss as some want to make out as this season turned out), and it takes time to replace these kinds of personalities. Ie Even with Hamilton im not convinced they would be that much further up the WCC than the team is now, just because of how bad the car is.

Personally think it was always in McLaren' s ideas once Merc brought Brawn to split with them ( there isnt another big team that shares engines with a direct rival, and McLaren were always going to lose out here, plus all those rumours two seasons ago about McL wanting to build their own engine).

This season was always going to be difficult due to the loss of Lowe so early in this years car developement, and not helped by the **** up with fitting that part the wrong way round during first test)

Hopefully they are getting one or two more senior technical positions filled beyond the former RBR aero guy announced recently, May well not help with the birth of 2014 car but hopefuly from Jan can help drastically going forward.

Are Gillette really sponsoring McLaren THAT much? Would be surprised if it was even in the same region as Perez is meannt to be worth every season.

No, they aren't. Unless I missed the new title sponsor announcement? Vodafone are out at the end of the year and there is an announcement pending, from what I know?
