Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2013, Yas Marina - Race 17/19

They were testing next years NON coanda exhaust and both drivers said "woo, the car's better" so it turns out their coanda exhaust was likely just always ****.

Which makes no sense, as there is zero relationship between the current engine setup and next years exhaust layout. Next year is a single exit, on the cars centre line that exits at the rear of the car. Current exhausts are twin exits on the sides.

I assume they were just using a neutral exhaust to evaluate other aspects of the rear end without any blowing affect.

Must say the ride on the Mclaren looks miles better than at the start of the season. The Porpoising is much more stable.

Your drawing conclusions on the whole of the 2014 season, a season that will see brand new engines and an overhaul of the regulations, based solely on the top 3 positions from a single practice session from a single race?

No, my friend.

I am basing my decision on the fact that Merc have been hiring personnel at an alarming rate, throughout the year. In fact, they have reached a point where they don't have room for Brawn...as good as he is.

I am also basing this on the fact that Merc are moving forward. They are showing ambition, which started when they convinced Hamilton to move from McLaren to Merc.

I am also basing RBR's (1st place in 2014), on the fact that they have consistently had the best car for the last 4 years.

As you can see, my prediction is not not based on one practise session.

Ah I didn't realise it was a works deal. At least it would give me a team to support if lotus die (love honda)

Ugh, I don't like sky coverage as much as bbc

Toto used to be at Williams. Plus neither Mercedes or Williams deem it enough of an issue to do anything about it. Susie is staying with Williams.

The bigger conflict is Toto still having shares in Williams, although he is in the process of selling them.

Must say Ferrari really have gone downhill in the second part of this season. Since the Summer break I can't think of anything exceptional that they've done.

Is it possible that they lost morale and hope?
They were initially gunning for the title, but when they realised the superiority of RBR, they just ... gave up.

Or maybe the change in tyre specification stuffed them and as Red Bull have come out and said, it benefited them massively.

Everything changed with the tyres this season, Don't get me wrong they had to do something about them but it effectively gave the title to Redbull. (I guess they would have likely came out on top by the end anyway)
