I just hope for a good race, some drama and a good winner.....

No "lucky" safety cars/dodgy stewards decisions etc.....

Same, last race pretty much put me off the whole championship battle. Crap decisions by FIA, poor behaviour by drivers and fans was just embarrassing to watch. We're going out at lunch time and I don't even care if I find out who won before watching the highlights.

Would Lewis on pole really have mattered with Max on softs and Lewis on mediums at the start?

Max likely would have been loads faster for the first few laps, and either would have got past Lewis or crashed into him.

I really do wonder if Merc intended for 2nd for Lewis. It just seems the much better place considering the tyre differences.
Vs Max it's not an issue really, you'd expect Max to reach T1 first either way.

I'm sure he'd rather have been as far forward as possible though, from P2 he's got Norris and Perez on softs to genuinely worry about too now.

Norris is P3 which helps Hamilton, as he's likely to be slower off the line than Perez and has openly said he doesn't want to get involved in the title fight if he can help it.

It almost looks like they "planned" to get second, wonder if they are assuming slipstream is king and will get Max during lap 1 and that's that.

He also knows he doesn’t have the pace to compete for P1-2. There’s no point in a battle there.

I dont really follow F1 anymore but the last few races have brought me back in. What is the positive for Lewis going on the mediums? Surely matching max on tyre choice is all he needed to do and lead from the pole. The Merc looked on a different level. Why take that risk?

Well Lewis’ mediums won’t have the pace of the softs but will last longer. If he can keep as close as possible to Max, towards the end of the race, he will be on the quicker softs, while Max will have to switch to the slower mediums. Then hopefully, Lewis can chase him down.

If Max only has hards left, he will go soft then hards and try to get to the end . Lewis should be able to go longer but you never know. A safety car might force an early stop.
Hopefully the softs will last long enough for Max to try and do a long stint on hard.
