I can't see any protest changing the outcome. They'd be nuts to do that. If I was sick of people saying Max is one of the "best that ever lived" before he won (gifted) it's going to unbearable over the next few days. With that in mind I hope the RB car is absolutely nowhere next year and Lewis kills it and gets his rightly deserved 8th. Mad Max can disappear into nothingness with his one championship like also-rans like Rosberg etc

Every Marshall around the circuit would have been instructed to give blue flags to every car in front of max on the restart.
How long would it have taken for those 5 cars to dive out of the way? 3 corners? They were all close enough to let him by on a straight.
It would have still come down to the final few corners but more likely is the SC couldn’t have completed another full lap and pulled in so they made up a restart procedure.
I imagine that would be even more of a disaster as then all the teams might get in on it.

Mercedes will have seen this sort of outcome being a possibility months ago, there is too much riding on it for them to not make investments in the right personnel at the right time.

Exactly. This is what I find so baffling about peoples views on Max. They have heard "the car in front has the corner" and take that to mean that if you just brake late enough to be in front of the other driver you can do whatever you want in that corner.
People genuinely thought that on the first lap, Hamilton shouldn't have gone off track when Max dove down the inside and made Lewis completely abandon the corner to avoid hitting him.
If you can't make a corner without completely screwing someone else in the process then you can't make the corner and shouldn't make the corner.
The driving that Perez did today to back up Hamilton was about as naughty as you should be allowed to be within the rules. Good hard and competitive without giving the other driver the question of "do you want to crash".

Its going to be interesting, if Merc take this to court/a tribunal etc.
This isn't even a subjective or interpretation issue. Masi has just literally made up a new rule that is written nowhere in the regs. One that is quite clearly MASSIVELY problematic and unfair. Just letting the cars you want to, get unlapped to give one driver a massive advantage....
