The other view there is Max has also "blocked" Lewis from dictating the line/time to start, as lead car that is his privelege, not Max's
Yeah I agree but it would be incredible if they overturned the championship with that alone.

As stated, they’ve got more to hang their hat on by going after the safety car restart procedure.

Trouble is; I can’t see the FIA wanting to throw Masi under the bus and that’s going to be a messy hearing for the World Motorsport Council.

They need to challenge it to understand why the rule was applied. Imagine if you were behind max racing one of those 5 cars that got to go for meaningful points, how would that be fair?

It should be all lapped cars or none go otherwise it makes safety cars even more of a lottery

Yep. It was the most ridiculous and unfair decision i have ever seen in F1, not just to Lewis, but as you say other drivers too.

Yeah my beef isn't with the messing about under the safety car, we all know they arse about there trying to get the best advantage they can.

Fundamentally deciding to do a completely different end to the safety car procedure just ad hoc purely to give people a show was 100% wrong.

Is that ordinarily a slam dunk penalty for Max and if so, what is the penalty?

Yes, and 5s. The leader is supposed to be able to control the pace and Max neutralised with his actions.

Still, would be very brave Stewards who decide a championship on such a thin infraction.

Paddy Power using it to their advantage...

Interesting decision. They will lose a massive amount of money and I can't imagine that the small amount of publicity it gets will make up for the 10s of millions they will have paid out.

What about Max weaving down the straight?

How can max get away with that swerving? Isn’t that against the rules?

Also lol @ Horner, first he’s thanking Latifi for crashing then says it was a great call to pit to go on the softs. What a douchebag.

It's always been allowed to try and break the two. It has been done for years. Perfectly fine. Got to be careful though as if the other driver gets along side then it's going to be an issue.

Definitely not, but it's no different to supporters of football teams outside of the Premiership who don't care about Man City, Chelsea or Liverpool dominating football but love to see close titles. I'm sure a lot of neutrals would love to see former giants like Williams or Man United compete for a change.

I don't think an actual neutral ever enjoys the outcome being influenced by an external factor in a close contest (assuming they understand the rules).

That said your last comment is great so fair enough :D

I can't see the championship result changing now tbh.

I just want Masi to loose his job at this point.

I think the same but it must suck for lewis.

It's one thing losing out because of safety rules when you've been the fastest car all race. Then finding out had they followed the rules to the letter then there would have been 5 cars between him and Max or finished behind the SC

The championship should NOT be a factor, It's a clear Rule break END OF..

Its like a referee just suddenly deciding to end a football match at 87 minutes for no reason. Referee's can't just make up rules.

They're supposed to take the penalty when I blow my whistle, but they took it 30 seconds before. "Ah well that's football!"

What did he say? (I don't watch the UK coverage)

They showed the replay and Nico felt that deciding the championship on Lewis and Max braking and accelerating with Max getting a few centimetres ahead would be a harsh.

If they change the decision on the championship it should be about the restart and the FIA.

They are not supposed to take into account anything outside of the infraction of the rules, and discount any wider consequences of a punishment.
