Abu Dhabi Prix 2015, Yas Marina - Race 19/19

Lack of strategic flexibility ended up dropping Hamilton behind Vettel. Giving Rosberg a increased lead.

Mercedes refusal to even consider anything different now the championship is decided is a touch frustrating.

Hamilton once again showing that he's faster than Rosberg in the race. Let's see if he gets to 1 second away, hits turbulence, and whacks cruise control on and listens to some tunes for the rest of the afternoon...

Hamilton staying out on older tyres.

Lets hope Hamilton pits on this lap then, otherwise Rosbergs tyres will be fully up to temperature and any gain he had will be lost.

Oh there's a surprise, Rosberg 0.5s faster in S2 now his tyres are warm.

Mercedes handing the race to Rosberg.

Hamilton's losing chunks of time so if there putting him on the same tyres this is all over. Mercedes are just covering Kimi. Hamilton couldn't challenge for the win if he wanted to.

Grr, why don't people get it, either the commentators or people on here. You might end up half a second a lap slower for 5 laps but that might give you 2/10ths a lap for the entire last stint which would be potentially say 18-20 laps.

Giving time away isn't a bad thing as long as you give away less than you can gain back. These tires run in a certain temp window for a given life, ie you can run every lap of the entire stint faster if you want them to last 18 instead of say 22 laps.

EDIT:- if he does another 3 laps he can certainly think about supersofts though depends on life taken out of them from pits. Same tires will still be faster over a shorter stint, considering they used all the supersofts in qualy I think he wouldn't want to do more than 15 laps on a set. Rather needlessly burnt out a super soft set in Q1 because they didn't think they'd use them in the race. There was no chance they'd do more than 2 stints on softs so saving the third in qualifying was pointless.

What tyres are ham/ros on?

Edit-
if ham can get to lap 40 and be 15 seconds ahead he could come out 5 seconds behind with the faster tire.

This di what I was thinking, but wasn't sure what tyres they're in.

Lower fuel load, means they normally last a fair bit longer than the first stints in the race.
