Accident.

wish i'd known about Help Hire before i put the claim in with Direct Line, apparantly UK Assistance are repairing my car and it will be up to the Ford Spec, if any special work had to be done i was told it would be taken to the nearest Ford Dealer, i can arrange for the work myself through Ford but apparantly is a hassle and prolongs the time it takes to repair etc.

Tell them thanks, but no thanks, and get Helphire do to the whole thing, via your local Ford dealer.

If I can get my car repaired at a BMW main dealer on my own insurance you can sure as hell get a Ford dealer to repair your car when it isnt even your fault.

Update,

Helphire sorted out a NEW Focus hire car coming to my house by dinnertime tommorow :D

Helphire sorting whiplash claim ;)

Her insurance contacted me today and told me she had admitted full liability for the accident, which im very pleased to hear means stuff gets sorted quick, they offered to take care of the repairs themselves and also confirmed the car can be repaired at my local Ford Dealer - Jennings in my case. So it's going there.

Look's like things are looking up :)

Cracking news mate! I cant believe people dont use HelpHire a lot more!

Fantastic company to use when the claim is no fault of yours.

I doubt it will be a write off. When a woman driver in her KA slammed into the back of my focus....that was some real damage.

Boot was bent in half, bumper smashed up good and proper, exhaust bent, the spare wheel compartment had been shoved just behind the back seats, back seats were out of allignment and when you took up the carpet in the boot the whole area was rippled metal. Bascialy had an entire new back part of the car. That was only a 1.6 51 plate.

Look's like i should be ok then :D . Fingers crossed.

Great news!

They'll get you a nice new Focus to drive around in.

;)

Helphire sorting whiplash claim ;)

Someone hit you at low speed. Stop being a big jessie, it's no big deal, you are alive and have no lasting injuries. Be happy you'll get some nice fresh paint and a posh car to drive around in for a few days.

Doubt ill even get anything for it i don't work so wouldnt stand to be at a finiancial loss, but Iv'e been made to suffer from someones lapse of concentration when i shouldn't. getting constant headaches and taking painkillers from it. So why shouldn't I claim if I can.

Because it puts up everyones insurance, including yours.

i dont like help hire. they can arrange a few bits for you, but often dont do it so well.

they will say that youre not at fault, you can claim whatever you like...

well imagine my position, i work for the solicitors for the insurance company who are liable.

they get a bill in from help hire. they have arranged repairs that take forever, but given you a ford focus instead of a class A car (class A = 206, corsa etc). so immediately, the liable insurer wont be happy because you have no mitigated your loss by hiring a like for like car.

because help hire can drop the ball, the repairs can take ages. so youll be hiring for 3-4 weeks when the car was only being repaired for 2-3 days. again, failure to mitigate loss on help hires part...

... but the CREDIT HIRE agreement that YOU sign says that if youre found to be responsible for any part of this hire claim, you pay it, out of your own pocket.

i hate doing it, but i dont like seeing it when a muppet gets all exicted about being offered replacement vehicles, has (for example a nasty 95 golf gti) so expects a 2007 golf GTI with dsg. wrong, and i dont expect my insurer to pay for that level of stupidity.... i have seen so many occassions where the hiree has ended up footing the bill.

so be careful with helphire, i personally dont like them or the claims they put together, its not there to benefit you, its for them.... and if it goes wrong, you take it in the behind.

youll be in a credit hire agreement (credit hire rates can be very high) so the third party insurer will say.... why did you get credit hire if you could afford normal hire? can you afford normal hire? well theyll get the last 3 years of your income records etc... if you were not impecuneous, then youll be paying for it.

Hmmm most of that went in one ear and out the other, tired. Apparantly i get the vehicle i put a £10 deposit down, this covers me if the 3rd party end up not paying for the hire, so im totally covered this way, and i have agreed that on the basis if there is any damage at all to the car when i give it back i.e somthing ive caused i pay a flat fee of £100 out.

Wrong - he drives a Ford Focus. A Ford Focus is, therefore, a like for like vehicle. A Class A vehicle is NOT - he doesn't drive a Class A vehicle normally so he should not be forced to drive one now as a result of the third parties negligence in causing the accident.

Mitigation of loss is all fair, and would apply if Helphire provided him with a 911 Turbo. They did not do this.

Not true. You pay HH £10 to insure yourself against any of this and prevent yourself being liable for anything else.

Dr Fox you must be running the new MS Vista- diagnose people over the internet edition. Although I agree that its pretty early to be claiming lasting injuries

Whilst the car looks ok it must have been a fairly substantial shove to bend the boot floor?

Also whats the problem with a car being repaired at a different dealer? My old mans had both Mondeo's done at a BMW dealer- both perfectly repaired. My 306 was done at a Ford dealer, admittedly it had to go back but second time round it was fine. Also by going to the approved repairer I get a 4 year warrenty on any work carried out.

I want the vehicle going to an Official Ford Garage for my piece of mind and I know there very good aswell. Purely for my piece of mind and its nice to know its getting tended to officially, and im not claiming any lasting injuries im claiming i have Whiplash which I do, not bothered or in it for how every much i can claim, just if Im entitled to claim I will.

Good luck. My car went to a BMW Main Dealer it still had go to back 3 times before it didn't come out with runs in the paint, badly fitted wings, glue stains on the roof and improperly sealed windscreens :)

Your luck sounds as good as mine :p

Well as for whiplash and claiming compensation for pain and suffering why not?

I just claimed again after another accident for my sore back/neck and shoulder etc after a muppet ran into the back of my stationary Mini Cooper at a roundabout being drivien by my pupil.

Other driver said "I was looking to the right" I said "I know where you wernt looking!!!!"

Anyway, I had reasonable amount of pain etc for nearly 2 weeks. Major inconvenience etc getting stuff sorted out and loss of some income. Why should his insurance company not pay? All he had to do was look where he was going and I would not have been sore etc.

I did not milk it, I was able to continue working but had to get out and walk about for 5 mins every hour etc. Had a reasonable discussion with his Insurers (Axxa, very good to deal with btw.) and its all settled. I'm happy there happy etc.
