Hi,

I'm really interested in this Acer screen to complement my 1080ti as a nice high frame rate 4k screen with the new freesync/g-sync Nvidia certification... as well as better colour quality and "some HDR". I know current games wont hit the higher fps but eventually Nvidia will launch 7nm chips for lower cost/better RTX that should. I also play a good number of older titles that could run 100+ at 4k. This is one of the 12 screens that passed Nvidia testing and the only 4k option. I think it will do 48-120 VRR or something like that and I'm surprised to not see more chat on this model as it could be a reasonable option. Hopefully it might be more widely available in the next month or so and I have seen it listed at £900. Clearly the 4k fully G-sync ultimate screens are better with HDR and VRR but at over £2000 you are paying a lot extra for just a bit better. My only hesitation is HDMI 2.1 stuff coming but I think thats probably still 6-12 months away still. I currently have a HAZRO 1440p screen but its only 60Hz and DVI only.

this looks like 4k 120 at 8bit colour and VRR will work for games. Multimedia could be used at 60Hz for "some" benefit to netflix/ HDR video streaming. 144Hz needs 2 Display port cables and I dont know if this will work on NV cards and wont support VRR anyway.

this is a youtube vid as well as the write-up on tftcentral (before CES/Nvidia's VRR support)

what are peoples thoughts? any thinking of taking a look when its out?

Got mine a week ago and it's very, very nice... The new G-Sync support works flawlessly. But as stated in the video review, variable refreshrate only works up to 120hz, because you need 2 Displayport cables to run the monitor @144hz and 10bit color. The more expensive xb273k with "real" G-Sync will do 144hz with G-Sync and chroma subsampling on 1 Displayportcable. But that monitor doesn't do 144hz with 10bit color at all, because it only has 1 Displayport, thanks to the Nvidia G-Sync module.

thanks for the info iViking, good to know gsync works well.

can i ask where you got yours from? did you order from amazon or somewhere else? its not listed on OcUK so think we are free to discuss here.

with the one cable connected what options go you get for HDR? can you create a custom res at 98Hz like the other 4k gsync screens? or any other rates then 60 out the box? would gsync work at this rate/setting - that would be sweet!

sorry for all the q's - what gpu are you using & what are you playing to test the screen? :)

really tempted now, ready for a 2019 present for myself :)

@Gibbo Hey man, are you going to be stocking these cheaper variants of the 4k/144hz screens? Think they'd sell much better than the crazy priced versions!!! (and I might even suggest have the Gsync module one on pre-order only, as the Freesync version looks to play nice with nVidia cards:))

It would be reallllllllly nice to pair one with one (or two!) of the new Radeon VII cards ;)

Looks like using 2 cables is a bit hit and miss on system start up.

1 connection allows 120Hz 10bit and VVR but no HDR? Seems like the best middle ground. Going 2 connections adds in an extra 24hz HDR but drops VVR and stability issues on startup.

there is no gsync at 144Hz and no back-light dimming, but for 900 pennies i think its a good deal

this site shows it as available, but never used them before... linked from the official uk acer site though so maybe ok

AO is a top site bought a few household items from them brilliant service and delivery.

"AO lets go....." never seen the ad on TV ?

I'm scandinavian, so got my monitor from a large webshop here in Denmark, and I paid 6499dkk (£769). I haven't messed around with HDR, custom resolutions or used the 2 Displayport's for 144hz myself. I play sim-racing games mainly, so on my system (9900k/2080ti) I average just under 100fps on the 4K benchmark in Assetto Corsa. Leaving me right in the sweetsport for G-Sync/Freesync support. Anyway, in racing games I can't really tell the difference between 120 & 144hz when using G-Sync. But I guess the 144hz with 2 DP cables and no G-Sync/Freesync is fine for people playing CS-GO or Overwatch, since they are the only ones capable of getting over 120fps/average with the current GPU's.

And to make things perfectly clear:

Acer XB273K = G-Sync. EU retailprice 1299euro.

Acer XV273K = Freesync. EU retailprice 999euro
