Acer Predator XR341CK/X34 34" Curved Gaming Screens with FreeSync and G-sync

Showing my ignornance here a bit with dp versions, bandwidth and whatnot, so I have a very basic question. Will my current graphics cards -780tis - be able to run a monitor with dp 1.3, or are the graphics cards not out yet that will work with 'future' display ports on future monitors?

No the 780ti does not have DP1.3, but dont fret as nothing has dp1.3 at all yet, it isnt even needed for 144hz@3440

Cheers andy, thought it might be that way. I mentioned in another thread, but I don't know why they're aiming for 144hz with this anyway, 120hz is more than enough and won't push the limits of current DP.

And who or what can drive recent games at 144 fps at 3440 x 1440 anyway? Two 780tis over clocked can't manage it on my rog swift and that's only 2560x 1440. Given the lacklustre advances in GPUs at the moment, it will be quite a while I think.

true, but there's nothing stopping people running games or content at a lower resolution, at which point they might be able to squeeze out more FPS and reach nearer to the 144Hz. 144Hz is just the standard now for most >60Hz panels

Why not aim for 144Hz? If it works just fine @144 why limit to 120?

In most cases we can't drive 4K either (or a multidisplay setup), even at 60fps, that does not mean we should just throw them away until we have the 'horsepower'. Not everybody plays Crysis 3 exclusively, there are games that are capable of hitting 144fps mark @4K, like CS:GO (or anything Valve I would guess).

Anyway, the specs are yet to be confirmed, so everything can change at this point :p

True enough. Make em 200hz if we can. I was purely coming from the point / discussion around the bandwidth limits of current dp 1.2. If it's going to be really 'pushing it' to do 144hz at 3440x1440, but much more 'comfortable' to hit 120, then just go for 120 for this round, as the difference and feel is minuscule between 120 and 144hz.

lol, why do people think manufactures have to design LCD refresh rates based off of random people's GPU setups?

Refresh rates should always be pushed to the highest extent possible given the panel capabilities and connection bandwidth.

Woop! Literally was just away to post asking if anyone knew if this spec of monitor was on the cards (34 inch curved with g-sync) and sooooo pleased to see someone is going to be making it.

Excited!

This is a very wet dream coming true.. the wait will be painful and when that is over my wallet will be in even more pain..

PS: Kinda funny they have diablo 3 on the screen... considering it doesnt officially support 21:9 monitors.

I haven't played any PC games for over a year now because I knew a monitor like this would come out soon. IF this is IPS, then holy console peasants batman, I'm returning to the land of PC gaming bliss.

Just a word of caution. Acer support is very slow and a bit rubbish.

My 4k monitor went back and was returned without being repaired. They claimed to change the screen but I know they didnt as I had marked it. It also had now developed stuck red pixels quite common with my model.

So off it went back again and its now been 10 days (quoted 5-7) and not only are they saying they have replaced the screen but they are currently waiting for a new main board!

So when it says 2-3 years onsite warranty what it actually means is the same as "normal" warranty, slower, but at least it costs you nowt in courier fees!

I had an Acer 24" ages ago and it was really good. Hence why I went for the 2k4k.
I would not buy this monitor again though despite ticking a lot of the boxes. There are others on here who have had same problems as me and then again some have been lucky and its been fine.

If I had the money and was looking for a 32"+ I wouldnt buy the XR341CK based on my experience of what happens if it goes wrong.
