Acer XB270HU - Worlds First IPS, 1440p, 144hz, Gsync

Yuck, now why did they have to go and ruin such a great monitor with piano black FFS!?! Who actually likes this stuff?? I am sorely tempted to buy, but it means spending even more money on a separate monitor arm... I couldn't live with that stand, no matter how good the monitor is.

In a serious pickle as to whether I should get this now, or wait for more user reviews. Is there any point in waiting? Will prices drop in a few weeks? Are there any equivalent gsync monitors coming out soon?

Also am I right in thinking that, even if Acer don't have a good warranty in regards to dead pixels and backlight bleeding, I can always DSR it, even after opening the box?

I can't really answer your questions with accuracy but going on the value of the Swift I would say that any change in price ahould be minimal and upcomming known monitors are not expected at this spec. However, I read on here that Samsung have a history of dropping products out of nowhere and their quality is usually good, so a comparable monitor using the same panel is possible with all the bells and whistles but it would probably be more expensive as Acer seem to keep it cheap.

Im going to go for it as I can return the monitor under Overclockers 14 day satisfaction gaurantee. If I see lots of dead pixels I only need to pay for return delivery and any unreasonable handling.

I picked up 4 monitor stands (never know when you need a VESA stand :D) - they where ex-NEC stands - on an auction site they where so cheap about 7 quid each (some firm must have bought 100's of monitors and tossed away the stands) They have very good height and nice looking. The Acer looks awesome on it. Have a look.

Still haven't received my replacement :( Lesson learned, never buy from other countries for 5-10% lower price.

received mine today from Italy and is in fine working order with no dead pixels.

Good for you mate. I'm happy not everyone is getting bad units from EU. Today is 21st (OcUK's ETA) and I still haven't got mine from Germany. If OcUK gets them in stock I'll just get one and ask for a refund from Germany instead.

I've bought from overseas a few times and always been very lucky that the items arrive in working order. 2 year or so ago I bought a custom pc from a retailer in the UK and had a faulty motherboard and graphics card, their customer service was excellent and had my pc working and back to me within a week. The packaging it was shipped had taken a few knocks in transit.

Pretty sure its all down to luck.

from the 14th to the 21st to the 29th. wonder what the hold up is?

That's 29th of May. It's Acer. They didn't predict the demand and now they can't supply enough. I'm guessing OcUK has got some small stock, but they all went to pre-orders and the next batch is gonna arrive in 5-6 weeks. It's the same in the US... all stores are sold out with ETA within mid to late May.

May, sheesh. Very high demand, it pops on and off where I got it from now as stocks sell out.

HACO must be why your replacement is taking so long?

Yeah that's the reason. I would have asked for a refund but there's nowhere else that I can get it from, so best chance to keep the order with the original place as they've confirmed I'm the first in their queue of pre-orders.

Well this is disappointing, I don't expect the 24th delivery date to hold either to be honest. I'd be curious to know how many you expect to get in stock and whether or not you will be able to fulfill all the current pre orders.

Is it possible that someone who owns one of these monitors could give impressions when playing games at 1080p on it.

I'd like to buy this monitor whilst gaming at 1080p for a while - then upgrade 970 to a new graphics card next year to run at higher res.

Therefore I'm going to have to put up with 1080p gaming with decent frames for a while but won't bother if it looks utter 5hite :)
