Anyway, I tightened the PAS belt, adjusted the handbrake, and fitted a new exhaust hanger. Nice.

That email is pretty full on. I'd have asked for a replacement and if they said no, then kick in all the arguments. Now you're out of complaints!

Glad it worked
Pulled out the modern radio and fitted a genuine blanking plate from an early poverty spec E30.
I never use the radio. Plus it means that when passengers ask if they can play music, instead of saying "I left the front of the radio at home" I can just point at where the radio isnt.

Funnily enough, I was taking a trip down memory lane earlier today and wondered if my old E30 was still running. MOT valid until November 2020. 
Missed that car but, after I moved to NL I thought it would be too impractical to drive it over here.
Gave it away to an E30Zone forum member a couple of years after I moved.
Bog standard 2-door 1989 316i. Lowered 15mm, genuine 15" BBS alloys, eyebrows, blacked out lights, a stupid loud stereo, changed the interior from beige to grey comfort and shadowlined.
Also added iS splitter and rear spoiler.
I've moved to the dark side now (E46 Coupe) but I've still got a soft spot for E30s.

Ive seen that one. It's now got an M52 engine swap, bucket seats, and a half cage.
No longer has the IS front spoiler, genuine BBS, eyebrows or blacked out lights, and is considerably lower than 15mm on some fake looking shiny BBS style wheels.
Paintwork still looks good, still sporting its black plastic bumpers etc.
I may have a pic of it at Caffeine And Machine somewhere.
