** Acme [Akagi] bought a pink estate car - E30 325i project log! **

Still looks great :)
It was a chap called Iain that took her. Sat in my driveway for nearly 3 years without even being started.
Apparently he put a new battery in and some fuel and drove it 150 miles home (albeit with barely any brakes).

Who said old BMW’s aren’t reliable? :p

I have the name of the owner, if you are interested ping me a message on trust or PM. :)

And my E30 had been dead reliable, never broken down once. Sure I've fixed problems, but proactively.

Neither of my E30s are on the road anymore, one, because I scrapped it and the cabriolet looks to have gone off the road (or changed to a private plate I guess). Such is the way with older vehicles.

When I had it, it was A7 JNA but it moved back to it's original plate which I think was E155 HAN but I'm not totally sure as I never kept a copy of the original reg (was window etched) I just know someone on e30zone had it about 18 months ago and had owned it for a few years as we chatted a bit.

The private reg got put onto a transit, so I can only assume the person that bought it off me took that off and I know when the zone guy bought it the leather interior was gone so I think the guy I sold it to basically stripped it of anything he could make extra money on and then sold the car.

I found a pic on Google, I am pretty sure I have seen that one, possibly at a meet on the lawn of a big posh old house, but I can't remember exactly what the meet is called. Bimmers at the house, BMs on the lawn, BMWs in the grounds, Classics at the... thing, something like that... :p

Hah, well I'm sure in the past it has been to events as I took it to some after I revived it and before I sold it. I understand the guy I spoke to on e30zone that had bought it did some events and had a few E30s. But it's more that the reg I think it is/was on (E155 HAN) doesn't come up on DVLA as existing on a vehicle. I can't recall if that was the reg for one of his other E30s and don't know if he then went and got a private reg on my old one or sold it on/scrapped it.

I was surprised / glad that it lasted after I sold it on, given the amount of work/hassle I put into it and how I felt it was still a mess. :)

Was it a lachsilber 325i chromie convertible?

If so it was alive in 2016/17. With an Uberkaro gray cloth sport interior.

A shame if its died since then. A tidy one of those would be getting in for 10k now.

It was yeah and I think I last spoke to the guy in 2017 (first spoke in 2015) so I know it was alive until at least '17/18 but haven't a clue now and yeah, no record on DVLA anymore suggests it may not be alive...I mean, if I really cared I'd trawl e30zone / ask the guy but I'm not that fussed. :D

No record can also mean it has a different reg now.
Most recently deceased cars will just come up as untaxed MOT expired.

Figured out why tightening the PAS belt hadn't stopped my PAS belt squeal...

It was both belts. So now tightened the alternator belt as well. No more belt slip. :p

Went for a nice long drive after making sure everything was in check, it does drive nicely, I should take it out more often!

It is now officially over 30 years old!

I can't remember what I have said in here already, but my boot pockets have been filling up with water for months and I keep having to drain them. Finally bit the bullet and gave BMW £72 for a new boot seal.

Scrubbed up the seal lip and sprayed it with Jenolite rust converter first, then put the new seal on. Hopefully that finally sorts the issue.

I am nearly ready to take the car to a bodyshop and have the respray and other bits done, just need to sell the V70R first. Have had plenty of timewasters sadly, but hopefully it goes soon. It is a good and honest car!

I have AVO Race monotube coilovers to go on the E30, and 15x7 BBS Mahles which are being refurbished in Porsche Titan silver with polished lips.

The bodywork I have decided, after much deliberation, to have re-sprayed in the original Brillantrot red colour. And I may have some 80's themed stripes added as well.

I did a quick Photoshop mockup of what I am envisioning. It isn't my best work!
