As I said earlier, it's a complete joke - 6 years is so OTT that you can't help feeling that something's amiss.
Can't disagree with the inconsistency, it's BS, but i'd rather that than everyone being given a suspended 12 month sentence. Should be the other way round, Berriman should've got 6 years.
As for Graham Rix, totally different profile of player there, plus he had long finished his career before getting done so wasn't particularly in the public eye so to speak. I doubt any club that Johnson would consider playing for would want to commit media suicide by taking him on, look at Ched Evans.

6 years is waaaaaaaaaay ott. People who have done much worse have been given less. You get less for running over someone and killing them while drunk.
As I understand it the offence had the following.
Aggravating factors:
The position of trust of the defendant.
The age of the victim (barely 15)
The methods used by the defendant.
The fact the defendant did research on the AOC then continued with the activity (so knew very definitely that what he was doing was illegal).
The fact the defendant did it over a prolonged period of time.
The fact the defendant tried to hide what he was doing and to make sure there was as little evidence as possible.
The fact the defendant did not show remorse.
The fact the defendant did not plead not guilty until the very last minute, meaning the victim had to go through the court process.
Mitigating factors:
Nothing.
Basically he knew exactly what he was doing, he knew what the law was, and he did it over a prolonged period of time with attempts to cover his tracks.
It's pretty much ticked all the boxes for such a crime's aggravating factors that don't include physical coercion.
[edit]
Those aggravating factors are the ones I've picked up on from listening to the news, there is probably a lot more that haven't been reported or I've missed, but they are all things that I'm aware of that would likely make the Judge look at additional time from the starting point of the sentence.

The problem am getting at is Just because he well known he gets 6 years for it...He basically pressured her for a kiss, BJ and I believe "digitally penetrated" her after months of grooming her including giving her a shirt in preparation.
It happened just after she turned 15 and he knew her age..

But If it just a normal everyday nobody that has sex or try's to have sex with a 15 year old girl nothing happens...
Obviously not planned months in advance, but I would say that if you're drinking and then get behind the wheel that is premeditation.Andy, a drunk driver would not have planned for months on having the accident, what happened in this case was pretty much the definition of premeditated and planned.
The Justice system will always take something that was planned with the person knowing exactly what they were doing far more seriously than a potential momentary mistake.
