Adolescence | Netflix

A spicy take on this.
The guy can be a chopper but for once I think this is a interesting interpretation.

It highlights just how crap society is on a whole and how everyone is failing kids. Probably agree. For me this crossed over to an Andrew Tate thread in GD were there's plenty of opinions... Lol

late to the party....

i watched this with the other half this week.... didnt see the big fuss to be honest.. acting and camera work was amazing, the acting seems to be why most people think its a brilliant show. Overall i thought the whole thing was a mess with 60% filler.

Whats with the whole episode (ep1) with the detectives running around the school trying to find the murder weapon, only for it to be completely irrelevant, the same with the young black girl who was friends with the girl who got murdered. I understand that the show was more to do with the parents grief and why the kid done it, but it was poorly done imo

I haven't heard any of Andrew Tates stuff and only heard of the bloke three years ago, everyone knows the issues of social media and brain washing the masses, (politically and influencers etc). it just seems very odd that they chose to have a anti man approach rather than doing a show that impacts influencers as a whole. Ironically there is a risk of the show itself promoting that the reason why young boys get angry, is because they are incel.

I had to google about the whole "emoji" language thing and the manosphere, is this really a thing? why would any kid announce to others that they are incel by using the 100 emoji and kidney bean emoji?

The show had a lot of potential. I am hoping a spin off series will come out as a prequal or of the courtcase. the show seems to be a mess apart from the great acting and camera work.

If I can find the video, I'll share it for you that goes into good detail about the show, in particular the interview episode number 3, showing why one side is the good hot chocolate, the other side the evil pickle sandwich etc. It explains about the murder weapon I think in that video, and why finding it is irrelevant.

I also heard something about some ideas the show had which was that the final scene in the kdis bedroom, there is a marking in the wallpaper, this was going to finish on this suggesting the knife is behind there.

But it still is irrelevant. Trying to find the knife was rhe reason they were at the school which allowed for the episode to be shown and all that was included within that episode. Finding the weapon wasn't the purpose. Showing the kids and the issues they faced, while "trying to find the weapon" was the reason we were there.

Surely finding the knife isn’t totally irrelevant. The kid is probably not smart enough to clean it - therefore it’d have her dna and his all over. Case closed. Well worth spending some time in the school if they suspected one of his friends might have stashed it for him.

Edit: yes I do know is there is the cctv but I’m sure dna would be preferable

We watched this this week after there was a lot of fuss about it on the radio.

First episode was ok.
2nd episode was watchable
3rd episode i fell asleep
4th episode i wondered why i bothered watching at all.

If there was a point to the series it completley went over my head.

I don't know how you could watch episode 3 and think this is boring

Utterly compelling that episode. Showed that, whilst he was still a child, he had anger issues and very warped views of women and girls.

Trying to ask out the victim whilst she was "weak", calling the psychologist a queen and saying she had a tiny brain and actually admitting the crime for the first time, then losing his temper again and almost looking like he was going to harm her.

Both actors were incredible.

I'm watching the psychologist actress in 1000 blows at the moment right now (with Stephen Graham) and the character is completely different.

Finished this the other night, it was a hard watch for sure and has made me think a bit about what my lads are watching online, not sure what kind of message it was trying to make though? acting by all concerned was top tier, Stephen Graham is a national treasue and his acting skills are up there with the best imo.

It's irrelevant to the show. The knife doesn't add anything to the story being told. Just as much as it's irrelevant how he left the girl dying, and how did he get home, and how did he was his hands etc.

What point do you want it to be making?

Kids these days have their own issues to deal that are different to the issues older generations had to deal with? As a parent you can try your best and still fail? Online can be dangerous? The family of the killer are also victims in their own way? Adults don't understand kids? Don't talk to the police without a lawyer? When your lawyer says stop talking, stop?

Any more needed?

Actually yes, I could not understand why, whatever happened previous to the murder, be it online bulllying, bad parenting etc etc could lead to an apparently normal lad brutally murdering a teenage girl, most people are not capable of such violence without being wired wrong in the first place but you are obviously far more intelligent than me.......

Something something his dad looked away in embarrassment when his son played football.

Yes but none of these things would turn a 13 yr old lad into a brutal murderer in my opinion, something had to be wrong with him in the first place... it was a very good show and sparks a lot of thought, that was maybe the intention of the show's creators.

Watched some of this and I was out when they mentioned Andrew Tate. It was well written and acted but its clear propaganda. Andrew Tate is not the reason the boys are like this. Andrew Tate may be someone they may turn to when no one else is listening to them but he is not the cause.

From memory, Andrew Tate gets mentioned twice in episode 2 within the space of 30 seconds, once by a police officer and once by an out of touch teacher who had heard his name but didn't know anything about him.

That's literally it

Sure, which is why the TV doesn't say any of this
