Adverts on Youtube videos

It'll only get worse as more people start blocking ads. Those unwatched ads will be forced upon people who don't block them :p

It's how the content creators I regulary watch get paid. Blocking ads stops their ad revenue from yourself, so I pay for premium to ensure they get at least something for their time.

Why not donate via Patreon or other platform if you like to contribute? They'll likely see more of the money via a Patreon donation, than they would via a YT premium sub.

If I regulary watch a specific channel I would happily contibute directly to them. No doubt the advertising company take the majority cut

Because I don;t have enough cash to pay all of the subs I watch. I have a couple of patreons for a couple I REALLY like, but for the rest this is a fairer way.

Wow, guys!

I'm literally shaking my head at all of you coughing up for premium to remove ads!!

For the browser use Magic Actions plug in for Chrome
For the phone setup YouTube Vanced.
If you really want to download videos go to y2mate.com and do it there.

I haven't seen a Youtube ad in 2 years!

I watch Youtube on my telly, more so than normal TV. I dont think those options work for that

Probably not with the youtube app, i don't think any ad blocker works on the YT app on android/ios either, they have some sneaky way of getting around any blockers.

For TV you'd have to set up a network wide ad blocker, and use your TVs web browser for watching YT.

Or spend £ZERO and get youtube Ad-Free via an ad-blocker like those mentioned. There's options for everyone and I would suggest that the cost of YT premium isn't the issue for most.

WOW! What is this wizardry. I added the uBlock plugin on Mozilla and its blocked 33 ads already!

This is why I love OcUK

Also look at sponsorblock, autoskips sponsored sections in videos if the times have been submitted by the community.

Edit: IIRC there are two UBlocks, Ublock and Ublock Origin. When I've seen people talk about Ublock they almost always mean Ublock Origin

Eh? The advertising companies PAY Youtube for ad-space, and that money is split between Youtube and the content creators.

I think they meant YouTube takes the "cut" as the amount of monetary split between YT and the creator is very poor compared to a direct donation via Patreon etc.
