Advice needed for a photo shoot!

Unless I have found the wrong website, are you the A Boreham of Boreham and Wilkinson of Peterborough, coz that's the site I was looking at. :)

yup thats the one! I thought you may have been looking at the FlickR from my linky! We are actually thinking of calling it a day this year as it takes up too much of our free time, which means away from our daughter!

oops hijacked!

In response to the "Hard Selling" at the end of the session, I'm totally prepared for it. I'm happy to spend a little more for a photo we both really want, as the 7x5 print is tiny!!!! :D

Thats' good because the kind people here just didn't want to see you get taken for all the money in your bank account. :)

Mind you, the terms and conditions state that the £25 voucher gets you a £125 photo session, broken down into £50 for the session and £75 for the framed print!

I REALLY am in the wrong business. :D

No worries, at least I know what to expect :)

After seeing some of the photos you guys have been taking, and some of this years Liverpool meet ones, I'm starting to gain interest :)

Some info on Venture that I have just received. :)

And it strengthens my desire to make sure SexyBetty doesn't get taken for a ride.

We have a Venture rep touting for business in our local shopping centre today. My Girlfriend decided to spend some time baiting this rep.

For the one hour session this rep was trying to sell, you get 100 pics taken.
The preview is then 3 days later. The rep was, and I quote my girlfriend, 'very cagey about the costs', which kind of matches the lack of info on the website. Eventually, coz my gf is a right persistant little b*gger sometimes, she managed to get the following info. The pictures depending on size would cost anything from £75 to £2000 each and the rep said that inevitably, most customers end up choosing loads of prints.

I am most DEFINATELY, REALLY, TOTALLY in the wrong business!

I was told it was right after the shoot, and I have just literally come off the phone to them!

Which is why Ive decided to ask my mum and dad to make this my birthday present, which luckily is in a couple of weeks :)

This rep is pimping for our local Venture studios I reckon. I was surprised to hear there was a delay, as it's best to get you to hand over the money straight away when your all emotional about the shoot! That's the way I'd take advantage of people anyway. Mwah ha haaar! :D

Dunno if anyone is interested in an update :)

We had the shoot, it was loads of fun! Only got to see a couple of shots and we are going back for our viewing on my birthday, (6th March, wonder if they'll give me a birthday discount? ;))

The photographer said she doesnt get any commission from photos sold so dont worry about hard selling, but by the looks of it we are going to be spending about £250 for something we really want :)

Is it weird that seeing cyKeys and DRZs photos from the Liverpool meet and going to this shoot has made me want to take up photography? :)

DRZs > cyKeys :p

Its good that you want to take up photography, though not as good for your bank manager ;)

Glad you had a good day, it seems to be a much more popular thing to do these days quite a lot of people i know from school have had small shoots.

O/T  i didnt think there was anyone else off the board from round my neck of the woods :D

Sounds like you had a good day. Look forward to hearing how the viewing goes and what the final results are like. :)

What sort of thing will you get for your £250? Is that one print or an album/collection?

For £250, prob an A4 sized portrait in a nice frame, Ive not really had chance to look over the price list, and in all honesty, its a bit confusing :D

It's supposed to be a bit confusing I believe. They were very cagey about the pricing after my girlfriend made inquiries. They had a £2500 product which was a 16 x 5"x7" photo collection in a perspex display of some sort. Also, the mail from them indicated that they have a single product available for £3500!

In fact, despite the photographer not being on commission (probably salaried), I think £250 is a hell of a lot of money to be paying for an A4 print no matter how nice the frame is!

Please be careful SexyBetty. These kind of businesses rely on you having fun then letting your emotions over-rule your better sense (especially as it's your birthday) in order to strip as much money as they can from you. They COULD slip in a 'nice' 10% birthday discount for you if you buy something else, but don't think for a second that they really are doing you a favour. These types of places must be making money hand over fist compared with some of the independents.

Sorry for being cynical, just don't get taken for a ride when you go back.

OT. Hi to Corby Blitz2163 from Kettering. Didn't know you had the internet over there yet. :p ;)

Thanks for the advice MacX, in all honesty, I'm dreading the viewing, cos when it comes to photos, I'm a total sucker. I'm going to want all of them, but Ill have to restrain myself for the sake of my bank balance!!!!

They do a photo album, very basic cover, 15 prints are £895!!!! How can they possibly justify that? :(

I can see this ending in tears, you are so gonna get sucked in to buying lots, like the album you mention above!

Its all done very cleverly, no pressure, no heavy sales but very very cleaverly done. Myself and my other half won a shoot and free 5x7 print @ a studio, 15 mins the shoot lasted and we went back 2 weeks later to view the prints where we were shown all sorts of lovelies with prints costing £450+ each...needless to say because i have my head screwed on i took my free print and left, but it was very tempting to get another...but not at that price!
