Advice needed for a photo shoot!

/shameless bump :)

I shall let you guys know what happened at the viewing yesterday when I have a bit more time, just so you know... went better than expected :D

Right, here goes... as short a story as poss... ;)

We ended up getting an extra £40 credit cos they moved the viewing back three hours, and the fella got me £100 worth of vouchers for my birthday :)

We finally decided on a 7x5 and a 10x8 shot, both framed, a grand total of £230, which was still expensive, but within our budget.

Its going to take 5 weeks now until we get to see them again!!!! :D

Glad you got something out of it :) Its been a real eye opener this thread. £230 for 7x5 and 10x8. Say £45 for the frames + border, thats £90. You're down to £140 for the photos. Say £80 for the 10x8 and £60 for the 7x5. I shall keep that in mind :)

I hope by posting my experience of this will warn people not to get sucked in to such offers.

I actually found out yesterday that Venture are now doing "Photography Parties" which is much like an Ann Summers do, get your mates over, get them to buy a voucher, and if enough people buy one, I get a free photo worth £295. So I have to scam my friends into getting this experience too? I think not :)

Well I've just arrived back from a trip away and gladly find they haven't stripped SexyBetty of all her belongings. They did have a really good try though which is exactly what I was warning against!

Out of interest, what are those vouchers for? Were they an extra £100 off what you ordered or were they for some future attempt at removing vast amounts of money form you?

And 5 weeks?! That's just not right. My cynical old alarm bells are going off again.

The vouchers were like any other shop voucher really, to put towards something of our choice :)

I know, god knows what takes so long :(

And would it be sooo wrong to rip the photos (not literally :p) out of their frames and get them enlarged and make mucho copies? :D

That would be ever so illegal! ;)

Couldn't condone that sort of behavior at all. I mean, that poor company will lose out and it's hardly making any money now is it? ;)

I guess youre right, well if they were nice enough to give me the photos on disk, we wouldnt have this problem :D

A guy that used to work for the studio I am currently at when I first started got fired in a rather shouty manner after it was found out he had been selling cds to customers on the sly! - He got sloppy and sold and tried to sell a cd of clients images to the client during his viewing but as a matter of coincidence the client was friends with another member of staff...heh

Cynical old me quite expects them to mount any prints so that it is very difficult to remove them for scanning.

Just based on the way I think their business works.

/shameless bump :)

I dont want this to get pruned just yet... our photos should be arriving in a couple of weeks, so I want you guys to see what we spent our money on :D

if they are anything like they should be, it'll be very hard to unmount them unfortunately. Venture make so much money, but they don't pay their photographers anywhere near as well as you'd expect considering, at least up north some of the ones ive spoken to don't get payed that well.

Tom.
