Afghanistan Fighting

And what's wrong with german exactly?

Imo Benneh makes a very valid point; everyone out there is killing people, there's no moral high ground for anyone to take. We like to dress it up with politics and by branding them as "terrorists" and "insurgents" but at the end of the day you're still aiming and shooting, just like the other guys.

B/s I was wondering when you would crawl from under stone again and quote crap again. Like you have many times before. Ps not every unit out there are killing people. You never heard of rebuilding program ??? ;)

These men are killing to save lives, they way you say it makes it sound like murder. Someone has to have the balls and step up to fight evil and in my opinion, the taliban are the bad guys here, to put it simply.

They're not paid to kill, their paid to soldier and protect.

Really? Exactly whos lives are they saving over in Afghanistan?

I'm sure the majority of people there have the goal of shooting those dirty terrorists for the good of our oh-so-threatened-by-them nation.

And you still didn't tell me what's wrong with german. :p

Apparently we are stopping terrorist attacks in the UK faq

I mean we haven't had any for ages now right ?

I agree its a bogus war but now we are in it the people that have to fight it deserve the best gear and support money can buy.

or my preferred option - coming home now and spending some more money on the NHS... :)

Why are we there in the first place

You tell me.

We originaly went to get OBL. Now that he's no where to be seen, we decided we dont like the Taliban and want to take them out of power. The problem is that the Taliban dont have any central place they operate from. Also, why should we be taking out a controling party just because we dont like them? What exactly are we dieing for out there?

Win. I'm sure the military budget could be slashed greatly as well.

The defence spending has been cut as far as it can and I think the NHS is already funded well.

The defence budget is about £33bn and the NHS about £103bn.

They don't need more money, they need to be more effecient!

My, how soon we forget.

The Taliban provided the location where Osama Bin Laden and his comrades planned 9/11. They were his closest allies and he was there as their guest.

That alone makes them our enemies, even without their brutal occupation of Afghanistan and their efforts to turn it into their version of a 7th century religious theocracy.

I was just reading about this in a newspaper, and I didn't feel anything.
I just can't feel sympathy for someone whos job it is to kill other people, regardless of politics, reasoning and so on. I support our returning troops, in the sense that I would imagine that some of them have a very hard time dealing with that they have seen, and in the sense that their families at home should be given financial security and some kind of mental support network, but I can't get past the fact that if you're paid to kill then you're a bad human being. That goes for the 'enemy' also.

You are a shockingly naive and ignorant person. Support returning our troops ? Sounds like you wish the whole nasty business of having armed forces would just go away.

Perhaps if we could just be lovely to everyone they will all just love us back eh ?

Rhetorical question..

US/Britain are the leading terrorist states
