Age of Conan

Posted this before but in the other thread.. anyway could someone please tell me, as a SWG Veteran How does this compare to SWG Pre-CU please?
Also, regarding player bases (?) can you have player towns etc with housing and all that?

On PvE servers can you create wars between guilds? or it more an optional thing on PvP servers?

Thanks fellas

IMO SWG Pre-CU had infinitely more depth to it. This doesn't mean that AoC is bad, just pretty shallow as an MMO compared to the SWG game world. It looks nice though.

I'll try my best here:

I don't think I would like to compare the game to pre cu SWG because the mechanics behind it are very different. SWG was a sandbox game where could could be anything and do anything and at any point change your mind and start again. Where as AoC is a pick your class and follow the quests.

They do become similar in the ideas behind the pvp, player cities and bases and I can't wait to see how they pan out. Currently there is no player housing but I hear that is something that is coming in the future.

As an ex SWG vet I am very happy so far and excited to see how the large scale pvp will turn out. Which will make or break this game.

Really enjoying this now, and especially abusing instances for PvP purposes! Go into an emptyish one and finish off the quests, then switch to a more populated one and go to the spots you were just at.

Anyway, anyone else playing a Barbarian? I'm around 21 at the moment and really enjoying it, from what I've gathered dual wield is DPS, and 2h is all about stunning and controlling the target (correct me if I'm wrong here), so much fun opening from stealth, stunning/knockback, do some combos, stun/knockback if they run =D

Is it true that you can't travel from city to city?
you just get ported there by an npc?

Cant see me playing this past free time if it is. I wanted an mmorpg not a bloated guild wars with a 10 quid a month sub:(

Yep just about to hit level 27 and its great fun, stealthing around and jumping out on people with a big two handed axe is big :D:D:D

Must admit though I hate levelling on any game so looking forward to that being over and focussing on the pvp and big guild fights.

That's great, thanks for taking the time to answer.

Additionally, as far as you can tell, is combat based more on skill or more on what equip you have?

Thanks :)

Found this place tonight called "Fight Club Arena". Unfortunately I was the only one there, other than the NPCs.

A boss spawns in the middle once you move onto the platform.

Its generally a solo boss which can be a little tricky and scales with your level.

Drops good loot normally.

I really dont think its got a great deal to do with equipment, it probably plays some part but not to the scale of wow. Mind you I doubt anyone has "uber" items yet.
