****Age of Empires IV****

After Relic have destroyed the last few series I used to like this will be a miss. I know I will be disappointed and there are going to be better games coming that fill the void.
 
Quite happy to see it being remade. Not happy that it'll most likely be a MS store win 10 affair. Gtfo if true.

I still have AoE 1 & 2 boxed from back in the day. Absolutely amazing titles they were and will always be.

Yeah. Such a great game.

Great news. I hope they do make it available on Steam on release. I have zero interest in buying on Windows Store. It would have to be a 10 out of 10 to get me to buy it from there. They missed out on sales for Forza Horizon 3 and Halo Wars 2 from me so far.

i hated the silly transport routes you had to connect

There is quite a few hackers on it now though, spawning units etc. If you get the ESO patch it's fun with some new added features.
I must say though you have missed out on Forza Horizon 3, even though it's on Windows Store it's still a fantastic game and runs great on PC (now anyway)

Those were no big deal. Could win a game ignoring them. Plus it was such a small part of the game. Never thought of them as positive or negative.

Will grab it one day once their sales dry up and they put it on Steam :)

It's coming!!!!!

I am still playing Age 2 multiplayer on steam with a bunch of friends; we all started playing it back in 2000.

Lagging behind in the single player expansion campaigns, so I need to get a move on before this new one.

I do wonder what civs/stories they will cover - surely they've done all the good ones by now!

Wouldn't get to excited ! Microsoft tend to make games and then SCRAP them if they fail.
 
Look what happened to AGE OF EMPIRES ONLINE !

One of my favorite games I spent well over £100 on only for it to be totally scrapped ! You cant even play it anymore.

I never touched that. Felt like a cop out/cash grab.

Nearly a decade been waiting for a proper sequel to Age of Empires III. I remember a while ago people were demanding from Bill Gates ata a Reddit ama, looks like he may have listened :)
 
The minute that music plays i'm straight back to the Demo version i had on the front of a PC Gamer magazine when i was a kid , one of the first games i bought. Really hope Relic don't ruin it!

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing you don't like AoE3. Many that love AoE2, dislike AoE3, a lot.

If Ensemble couldn't recreate AoE2's greatness with AoE3, what chance does Relic have, given what they've done with DoW3?

I played AoE2 + AoC during years 1999-2001 in online multiplayer deathmatch with imperial start, pretty sure I was probably (no official ranking system was in place) ranked globally for a while about 5-10th best player of that game mode at the time. Absolutely loved the game!

Last night, after 15 years of no RTS gaming at all, I downloaded AoE 2 HD + all expansions on steam. Went straight into a 1v1 easy AI, fast, deathmatch, imperial start. Omg it was so easy so I changed it to 2x enemy AI on standard difficulty, wow I suck hard lol - I finally killed them after the 4th attempt. To think that back in the day I could fight 6 AI, while 7 was too hard.

That initial "wololol" sound in the new AoE dinfinitive edition video, omg just awesome... soooo many memories of AoE2 online multiplayer.

By the way, why don't farmers auto replenish these days? I think it was an Age of Conquerors feature?
And what happened to the custom 999 taunts? And are they still commonly used in online multiplayer?
 
Probably the most exciting game announcement I've seen all year. Sat on AoE II for probably thousands of hours without realising as a kid, time just flew. Still play HD remaster occasionally.
 
AoE4 will likely be a merging of Company of Heroes 3 and the world war era depicted in some 2005 artwork by Ensemble Studios for a possible future 4th game. If it follows other COH games with no water units, no homecities, hardcoded AI, intentionally difficult to mod to maximise microtransaction profit and no resource gathering it'll be truly awful.

They do, but you have to keep the 'automatic reseed' option queued in the mill.

The taunts still work online and everyone uses them, annoyingly. :p This is on the Steam version though (AoE HD).
