Aion Online?

I've got a fair few friends from lotro rolling on the server for the great pvp it will apparently have, so i want to at least play with them, not that i actually matters any more, ive uninstalled the worthless hunk of junk and cancelled my account, nightmare launch, aweful customer service, not a great game either in all honesty. I also dont see why they couldnt just make more channels for the launch, what is the point in having channels otherwise? When the lotro expansion launched there were literally several thousand people all in one zone, yes it lagged like a bitch and it was practically unplayable because there were 5 times more people than mobs (and i played on a quiet server!) but at least it was playable, i still got to explore, gather the quests e.t.c. i cant do anything here and its completely a waste of my money

Aion walks all over Lotro, i can say that because i have 5 lvl 60 freeps and 7 Creeps with two rank 8's. Lotro has one PvP zone which if theres more than 24 v 24 turns into a slideshow for 90% of players. Aion's Abyss (PvP zone) is nearly as big as all the zones in the original SoA release. You maybe played Aion for a few hours and without sampling all its aspects you make the assumption is junk? excellent the more people who quit like this mean even smaller queues for those who enjoy it ..

Any MMO released through the history of the genre has problems at launch. Aion's release, apart from the initial queue's of which i agree annoyed the frik out of me, has been of the highest quality. NcSoft have spoken about how suprised they were with the overwhelming amount of people who bought the game and joined the early access. Lets look back in maybe 6 months and then decide on the games true merits without knee-jerk assumptions ;)

**edit** Gorgos is my server of choice and i havent had to queue up since last friday ** hail the server gods !!! for now ;p

I smell wild exaggeration. You're telling me it's as big as :

Ered Luin
The Shire
Breeland
North Downs
Lone Lands
The Trollshaws
Rivendell
The Ettenmoors
Thorin's Gate
Angmar

Right....

believe me the Abyss makes the Ettenmoors look like my backyard!! yes im probably over exaggerating, but only slighty ;)

it has three levels, and bare in mind the land is not flat is has mountains and floating surfaces everywhere.. for instance Primum Bind Point is probably around 65% the size of Lotro Ettenmoors which will give you an indication of just this part of the Abyss... it has three levels with this map being the bottom only !! there is a centre map and the top part which is PvPvE .. it has a third race that both the Eylos and Asmodians fight against together. I guess what im trying to get across is how much effort and work NCsoft has put into the PvP part of the game compared to the totally poor one zone garden in Lotro.

honestly, if you were to flatten out the full 3 levels of the Abyss it might come close to half Middle Earth SoA(or not) , its truly impressive.. i went from beta to lifetimer in Lotro and ive spent a ridiculous amount of time ingame, probably 50/50 PvE - PvP i spent most of my time in the Moors until MoM broke the game. Aion's Abyss is my new home :p

Game is great, I have been grinding - need 15% till I hit 42 tonight which will take around 3 hours or so. PvP is great, I love the PvE, crafting is amazing. Questing I have no idea about but the ones I have done are great also!

The game is great, the grind is good. If you are not in for putting in a bit of hard work Aion isnt for you. Level 49-50 is roughly 50 hours of solid grinding.

/ strokes beard thoughtfully. Between yourself and Tombstone, I'm definitely weakening :)

Hehe, dont worry about me. I'm keeping grounded and am always sure to let a person know if I think its the right game for them or the wrong game. Its not a game which will suit everyone and needs the player to have certain tastes in MMOs :D

So you think grinding (not using quests) is quicker than questing? did you grind pretty much most of the way to level 41?

50 hours damn thats a lot of grinding!

from 24 to 26 i grinded approx 4million plus xp in one cave ;p .. boring ? i had the tv on and was chatting in legion but then with the Spiritmaster its easy peasy !

on the Korean leaderboards it seems only 10-15% of players are above level 40 and it was released a yr ago there.. but in all honesty the Abyss PvP zone gives enough to xp to keep a steady flow coming in plus the sense of danger questing solo is great :)

Its easier to tell if you have an app/client that gives you your xp p/h, dont suppose you know of any yet?

I am half tempted to grind from 20 to 23/25 to give me a break from running all over the map but I might miss some hefty rewards (although most of these are rubbish - I did one huge chain quest and got common chain greaves!! I couldnt believe it after all the hard work lol) the coin quests are decent though and excellent for a combination of grinding and making money.

Any tips for grinding at 20? remember any decent areas?

In vanilla wow I grinded from 55 to 60, it took me about a week every evening non stop, was brutal but the feeling of hitting 60! :D thought that was it - then I started pvping.....I remember playing for over 12 hours straight in Alterac Valley hoping the game would end, was top of the leaderboard for kills and when it did eventually end got sweet fa for it!

Ah the early days of AV just after it was patched in... genuinely the best time of pvp in all of WoW. The TM/SS days were almost as good but at that point no one what the hell we were supposed to be doing :P

i miss that stage of WoW.

was hoping AION would bring it back, but seems a lot of my 'gaming group' are already taking it like "seerioz bizniz"

Why on earth is this game £35 and THEN monthly fees? I really want to try it but surely games should be one or the other not both!? seems like a total rip off to me

great game enjoying it but as i dont play hardcore as others only lvl 18 i would prefer fee same as in china pay 9 £ and get 400 hours or 800h of play cant remember exact number

That's exactly what I'm hoping too. I'm hoping it goes back to everyone on the server knowing the names of the top 5 pvpers, having to work really long and hard to get a gear reward from pvp, and just good old fashioned, 4+ hour running battles between masses of players.

If we can start getting that once a lot of people are actually at the level cap, then it's going to be a great game.

It's the first MMO that I've played apart from guild wars and to be honest I'm really enjoying it, struggling to find the time to play it properly though and as such I'm probably levelling slower than everyone in the ocuk guild combined lol. But the questing (near the start) is great and grinding is fun - more so than when I tried the WOW trial. And you can hang out with people if you want at least at my stage - have been in groups with a few people from ocuk legion...

iam enjoying it even tho iam miles behind any1 so on my own most time!! once i party with some pugs the game becomes so much more fun!!

I'm still debating whether to play Aion again, I played on the chinese servers with a few characters I think to about level 26 or so, I enjoyed it quite a bit but there didn't seem to be much endgame, or even much to do at 26. Not to mention that £35 is a steep price to pay compared to paying nothing for it in China.
