Air purifiers - Share your experience...

Ordered the Levoit Core 300S as it's gone back down to £128, which is the second cheapest it has ever been. Cheapest was around £110 last November, I assume Black Friday or something. The Warehouse prices were only <10% cheaper so not worth considering.

How are you finding it? Where have you put it? Tempted by one for downstairs and upstairs.

Probably sending my 300s back, it has made no discernable difference to the level of dust settling or anything else for that matter that justifies the cost.

Dust is a problem that you will not fix easily, ever notice how brand new ventilation systems in new offices cant prevent dust? So how will a cheap home purifier.

The way to prevent or reduce dust is not to try and filter the air already in your house, its to pressurize it - by taking outside air, filtering and then pressurizing it you will prevent dust from entering through windows and doors.

Most houses have negative air pressure, thats why they get so dusty

So far so good; I have got all the smart functions set up, so it's all very convenient. Only thing I haven't figure out if you can put on a schedule + timer at the same time.

I have had a cold last two weeks so my breathing isn't great atm, so I am not sure I am noticing anything different in the air. But the app suggests it's working. Hopefully once my airways are cleared up, I will be able to tell if there is a difference. I will also know better in a few weeks when I check the filter and need to vacuum my room.

Otherwise it's quiet overall, and on sleep or low mode, I can barely hear it.

I have come to realise the ground level Ozone as well as particulate matter can really mess with me, I have had hayfever since i was young but the last few years i get almost no symptoms untill last summer when the pollen count was massive and its made me more sensitive to it now.
Ozone today in the south east England went up to "poor" for a couple of hours and I knew it had before I even checked because I could feel it. Anyway I purchased a 'EVA Alto Four' that arrived last Sunday, it seems to work I don't run it all the time I put it on today and it did seem to help untill the ozone levels went down.

I'm now in the market for air purifiers. Bedroom @ 4M x 4M which would make it 16m² and my downstairs @ 5M x 4M, 20m². The product page said it's good for a room up to 40m² but that would be a overly large room for the size of the device. I think it's a mis-print and that the Amazon page meant 40M³ (cubed)? My downstairs ceiling is 225cm high, so 5M x 4M x 2.25M would make it 45M³.

Otherwise it looks perfect and I would like to get 2 of them for the above mentioned rooms. I like the small size and great aesthetic. I also have a Dyson fan, dehumidifier and a portable a/c unit which I would use depending on what time of the year it is, then run the air purifier most of the year round especially during hayfever season.

Also, what are those grey balls of fluff that accumulate under the bed / behind the bed? Would this air purifier catch those and stop new fluff from forming?

Will find out about the fluff next time i vacuum.

If you want two small ones, check out the Core 200S

Have been using my 300S for a wee bit now and can't say I notice a difference. I do like it as white noise and a little air movement while getting to sleep though.

On auto or fan1 it doesn't move enough air to make a noticeable difference in a room I find.

Took delivery of a second Levoit 300S earlier in the week so we could keep one in the bedroom and one in the lounge.

I’m going to have a peek at the filter on my two week or so old machine tomorrow methinks. I’m curious, though our place isn’t dusty just yet. Construction nearby later in the year will change that.

Not only have I been sleeping horribly well but my wife has overslept two days in a row too.

Don’t forget to register your machines folks!
How are you finding it? Did you check the filter?

Forgot to post a pic of it tbh.

The bedroom purifier had a lot of dust and hair when I did check, however the living room filter was mostly empty of visible particles in comparison.

I have however got a pic from this past weekend so it will show a weeks dust buildup on the bedroom purifier. I’ll post this later tonight when I get home.

I’m still sticking with mine as they’ve reduced my hayfever issues a lot and they’ll come into their own when building work starts sometime this year on a 190 flat development nearby.

I still haven’t come up with a suitable schedule for running these things. I agree with the above statement about Auto and Low speeds - they just don’t move enough air at their default speeds. Medium and High is where you get most airflow. I’ve just had my gas/elec bill and they’ve made very little difference and I run them a lot.

I’ll post some pics tonight, especially this past weekend when the missus began cooking and sent the things haywire lol

Ok two pics. Here is what my bedroom purifier looked like after one week, as I vaccuumed it up this past weekend. Doesn't look that bad but it is. I deleted the initial pic of the purifier filter after 2 weeks, it was quite bad.

When the missus starts cooking. It's a shame we can't set the thresholds for fan speeds/P.M in Auto mode because they are too conservative.
