Airsoft ??

Thanks Elrasho, would there be any shops in London I could visit? Or should I just try and source from the net? If so any good websites that you would suggest?

First you need your UKARA licence.

Play at UKARA registered game sites
Play a minimum of 3 games spread out over more than 2 months

That's the criteria to get a licence.

Or you could buy a gun but it will be coloured bright blue/green/orange and will look ****

:( Nope, havent ever played, didnt even realise I had to. I'm 33 so the second part shouldnt be a problem :)

//goes to research UKARA Licence

I'm in the market for a G36, got my eye on a ICS G33 but after reading your post I'd like to know more about it. What's the build like? Has it got a top rail to add a scope to it?

Picture here mate:

Open spoiler as unsure of size, i bought it off zero one, great build quality.

OK first things first is go on a site skirmish. A quick Google search gave me this: http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/gun.asp?page=bunker51

I go to First and Only sites and there are a few down south, The Mall - Reading is meant to be ace: http://www.firstandonlyevents.co.uk/venues/the-mall/

Once you've been to an event 3 times within a year you need to fill in your UKARA form: http://www.ukara.org.uk/Players-Skirmish-Validation-Form.pdf

Give this to your site (who have to be UKARA registered) and they will add you to the UKARA database with a unique ID. You can then buy guns online/in shops using your unique ID.

Reading about it online, it seems the license is not really UK law, and rather a retailer thing. Does that mean I can purchase one from Hong Kong or ebay?

It is illegal for anyone to sell a gun to a person under the age of 18. (section 24 of VCRA).

Can you get a gun without having a UKARA...the answer is yes as long it was a gift from people who are eligible to purchase the gun in the first place.(THIS MEANS NO MONEY IS EXCHANGED FOR THE ITEM AT ANY TIME) The person who gave the weapon as a gift is therefore Liable for any misuse of the weapon given to the Under 18.

Any reputable retailer should ask for your UKARA number, even if you buy second hand they should.

Thanks guys! None of my mates play :( I would love to play... so maybe I should man up take your advice and go to a few first and only events

Being registered with the UKARA national database means you have a reasonable defence against being prosecuted under the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (see sections 36 and 37). This is rather important.

There are other defences too: such as historical re-enactment, film & TV, theatrical production. For the complete list see section 37.

A good place to look for a cheap starter M4 is the G&G Combat Machine range.

That's quite an FPS variance (40 to 50fps). Can you get a regulator for it to help even it out?

Its due to the use of .20 BB's.

For whatever reason they cause a massive variance in GBBR's.
Heavier BB's remedy this, I currently run .30's In all my GBBR's.

The WE G39 range is a fantastic beginner GBBR!
I owned one for over a year and 15000 rounds through all weathers and it was constantly fantastic.
Finally sold it as I needed a change.

Keep in mind the stock rubber is not so good for under 350fps, swap it out for a REAPS for some truly epic range.

Since then owned many WE GBBR's.
PDW, SVD, AK-74SU, Scar and M4.
M4 being my trusty steed for over a year now.

Its the only way to play.

Don't know if they are still around but Section8 played in the woods near Shotts.

Edit. http://www.s8airsoft.com/

There was also one in Kilmarnock, used to be called Ayrsoft but i think they had to change the name.

Edit 2. Perhaps not http://www.freewebs.com/ayrsoft/

It's a bit silly to illustrate a satirical article about Walts with photographs of said Walts raising money for Help for Heroes.

Not silly, I found it amusing.

You can't laugh at others without being able to laugh at yourself.

I stumbled across it after being directed to the website from an ex forces colleague of mine (him being ex forces I've never been in the forces).

I thought i would share the joy, its a very good website.
