Akasa A-62 AMD x6 *Zosma* build

10 minutes? :p You do know that core temps for AMD chips mean nothing right? What are you using to check?

AI suite that came with the motherboard, but will doble check on speedfan, it dropped down to 47Oc after my heatsink heated to the same temp as the chip
okay, vcore is actually set to 1.5v on the bios, im not measuring core temp, my core temp is 40oC
The cpu temp is hanging just below 50oC

I guess i should leeve it a couple of hours to mae sure the temps dont start to rocket, i have only been running prime for 20 minutes

If i wacked up the voltage to something crazy do you think i could achive 3.6ghz as teh shutdown temp it 73oC o

dropped to 46oC :L heat is no issue here
DOuble eddit, 44oc, i think it may have been since i opened the door though :)

still at 44 oc after a hour, it hasnt budged :)
i think its time to whack up the voltage and try for 3.6ghz fingers crossed

Okay, 3.55ghz is the best that seems stable (will have one more go at 3.6ghz)
But no matter how much voltage i throw at it it doesnt seem to llike 3.6ghz :/
anyway after anotehr little play i will see what i can achieve from the NB and ram :)

I wouldn't trust your overclocks tbh... Stability test should be many many hours.
As much as I say you're not guaranteed for the overclock, we are extremely luck these days, I'd say if you just spent A LOAD OF TIME messing about (read some guides), you'll get higher clocks and keep it stable. Whether it's worth it or not... Meh.
You can't just throw voltage at a problem and expect it to go away.

I know, you also have to mess about with Nb Ram freeqeuncy.ect and lots more, but as soon as it taps 3.6ghz its unstable

Definitely reading the right temps? I'm not being a knob with you, it isn't obvious with AMD chips

hwmonitor.png

See how my "cores" read as 15c in HWmonitor (and Coretemp, Speedfan iirc) when the actual temp your interested in is the CPU (31c doing nowt) or sometimes TMPIN0/1

Yeah, i run with speedfan witch gives me a overall cpu temp, and also asus suit reads the same temp
Later i will download the otherprogram just to clarify

Why would anyone want an old Alienware?
Stop buying old stuff. The shiny plastic tat wrapping will do nothing to improve the benchmark scores...

because just for a case the resale value on the bay is around £70
and if i built it u it would be around £250 for a core2duo spec
im not using it in my build i prefer the stacker tbh, im just mentioning that i got one
and i only got it because it cost me... £10 at a car boot
and £5 for the working 19" flatscreen there aswell :p

your mum? to replace her shuttle with a ghetto psu?

hahahah :L nahhh those main boards wouldn't fit i dont think, anyway i could break down her shuttle steal the celeron and a lil bit of ddr2, the hdd and cooler, and then build it as my own computer to sell on :P

wouldn't she notice? :p

Good point ;)

anyway... It has a intel motherboard in it, its worth almost nothing although being lga 775 and having ddr2 sockets and pci-e it cant take anything more than a HT pentium chip, + it looks in fairly bad condition, is there any point in testing it? :) and if so with what? i only have socket 478's and ddr1 :L

Dont be one of those cocks on ebay that sells **** under the name of alienware.

You have been ****ed over on ebay so dont you start doing it.

No, im not going to, im going to sell one case at trade price, or maybe one desktop at trade price for alienware, and it will sell

You know people are not going to buy a PC just because of an alienware case? People usually only buy alienware from the site directly, alienware cases are too easily obtained...

completely disagree, there is one alieware case on ebay, it happens to be the same model as myne yet... £80 pick-up only, and second hand alienwares are fairly expensize to, even at the same spec

And take away the comic value?:(

yeah, no, im not planning on changing much for now, maybe a new motherboard somewhere along the line, but anything that i mention would be to earn money or use on a different project :)
(probably wont be a different project intended to keep for a while now though :)

Edit: will probably get a sound card though, but will give this onboared sound one last go :L

you realy think id pick up a alienware bare-bones for £10 on ebay?
