AKG K7XX - Massdrop

I never heard those tracks on the XX but they sound sweet on the 650, I'm mildly jealous having not heard them on the XX :o

Fleetwood macs 'the chain' is one of my go to songs for testing.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has a certain track or album they try first. Mines Jeff Waynes war of the worlds

Here are some of my favourite "headphone" songs that I use as go to, or just to thoroughly engulf myself into music after a long day. Of course everyone's preference will be different :)

BB. King & Eric Clapton - Marry You
Bobby Womack - Nobody Wants You When You're Down And Out
Childish Gambino - Sweatpants
Childish Gambino - Heartbeats
The Seatbelts - Gotta Knock a Little Harder (from the Cowboy Bebop OST)
Yoko Kanno - Don't Bother None (from the Cowboy Bebop OST)
Daft Punk - Give Life Back To Music
Anthony Hamilton & Elayna Boynton - Freedom (from the Django Unchained OST)
Doug MacLeod - The Night Of The Devil's Road (a quiet track that builds up, superb with the volume up!)
Duke Ellington - The Swinger's Jump (sweet sweet Jazz :))
Fat Freddy's Drop - Blackbird
Fever Ray - If I Had A Heart (the opening theme to Vikings)
Fever Ray - Concrete Walls
Flight of the Conchords - The Most Beautiful Girl

If you find you like most of those then I have many more favourites i could share. If not then ignore the above lol.

My Modi 2 Uber arrived today and it's paired with a Vali. So trying a few songs and some games on it and it's really changed how the K7xx sounds. It's a lot more brighter, to the point where it's kind of making me cringe a little and my ears hurting a little from the sharpness to it all.

Maybe getting better source equipment isn't a great idea after all!

How much do these end up costing then? inc the $25 postage and possible likely customs charge?

Can get the 712pros off amazon for £180 when back in stock, and supposedly made in Slovakia. Despite the ugly orange cable that comes with it (plus a black coil cable that comes with them) I am thinking of getting these when back in stock, surely work out much cheaper than the hassle of mass drop?

I think over £200 for these is too much because of their build quality. Seen many posts of snapped bits of plastic and drivers failing, really need a go to if something goes wrong with them, and as AKG's have great warranty (got a brand new pair of k550's after a year and a half and they snapped) am I right in thinking if I go massdrop route I have no warranty?

Just get the K712, £180 is a very good price.

Massdrop is becoming less and less relevant as the value of the pound decreases versus the mighty dollop. Personally I couldn't live with the very long wait and the poor support should anything go wrong.

I had issues with an RMA for some Q701's bought from Massdrop. Harman accepted it, I sent them off to the UK RMA centre where they declined it as it was bought in the US.

Just buy from a UK based distributor.
