Alan Partridge back next month

Is there a separate thread for "From The Oasthouse" ? Hands down the best Partridge in years IMO. I've listened to it through about 6 times now since it came out.

I hope there is another outing of that at some point.

Rewatched Alpha Papa yesterday. Still just ok. Doesn't have the rewatchability of the TV shows.

No - I thought his recent Greed film was good, and the (lamented) Trip, but I only watched this for a few minutes,

I think he lost a lot of his facial mannerisms/contortions that used to contribute a lot to his comedy, too.

You’re right “From the Oasthouse” is so good! I wish more people would give it a go.

Rewatched the first series leading up to Friday and I dunno.

There's moments when it really shines through, particularly in the cutaway segments where it's just Alan. But the studio stuff I really struggle with and I can't quite put my finger on why.

For me the only Partridge stuff that's held up past IAP is the Audiobooks and podcast. I think maybe because it's just the character in isolation? He doesn't quite translate to real world scenarios for me.

Enjoyed the first episode but thought that the Tim Key / Lolly sections were a bit rehashed. There's only so many times you can do the same gag.

Fully agree. I can’t get “in” to This Time and it’s bugging me because I love IAP.

The prison sketch and the ankle tag were the closest to classic Partridge but I’m just not a fan of the studio stuff.

I think it’s Jenny. Alan works best when he feels morally superior (Michael in the BP garage/hotel etc) but he’s playing second fiddle to her so just feels a bit cringe / needy.
