**Alan Wake Review*****

As others have said the later episodes make up for the slow beginning. Also agree it needed more variety in the gameplay as well, you'd think the play testing would have highlighted this?!

Enjoyable but probably won't play through it again, although the DLC is supposed to be an Episode 7?

glad i rented it tbh.

i hate the way it holds your hand right through the game and you think great im gonna have to puzzle something out but then it tells you how to do it so obviously.

i wont be playing again when ive finished.

shame cos i do like the gfx and the effects as the characters appear etc. but its a little bit dull also. The episodes seem too long for me too (about 1.5 hours per episode)

Well, I've completed chapter 4 and I must say, the game is vastly improving, while the same combat mechanisms are in place, the story is moving faster and I'm far more interested in what is going to happen next, really enjoying it. The concert scene was awesome. :)

I think it's great, it controls a lot like uncharted but with less jumping and more spooky and interesting plot. The dodge mechanic is very good in my opinion simply because you can't spam it so it's not cheap and while the game does hold your hand a bit I rarely find it too invasive. Not that it isn't sometimes. Anyway I'm not too far into the game (got to the police station and finished episode 1) but it's pretty good so far and sounds like it gets better.

I got to the LAST chapter tonight and im going to save it for tomorrow.

The game gets MUCH better after chapter 3 imo. The craft and polish this game has is simply amazing. Fantastic set pieces

The parents are going on holiday tomorrow so I'm going to be hooking up the 360 to our large LCD with 5.1 downstairs and enjoying some late night action as soon as this arrives  Should make it a bit more cinematic than being sat at the PC with regular speakers!

This is a game that definitely gets better the further you get. I'm into chapter 4 now, and really getting into it. amazing atmosphere, sound, even the graphics for the most part i find to be pretty decent. Started off a 7, heading towards a 9/10 now, top stuff.

I said previously that i wish i rented this becuase i could complete it in 5 days but you know what remedy deserve my money for this game. Sometimes you just need to show with your wallet your approval for a game you enjoyed,

Just completed it too, really enjoyed it, as stoke1863 said quite happy to put money in remedy's pocket for that. Didn't quite enjoy it as much as somthing like Max Payne 2 (when it first came out) but for the final three chapters I was hooked. The DLC voucher that came with the limited edition is now teasing me with messages of upcoming DLC, can't wait.

Remedy have said that any DLC won't be an extension of the story but rather a side development.

Whether this is true or not we won't know till July I guess.

Just started chapter 4 last night, still enjoying it, need to get it clocked before RDR comes out though :D
