**Alan Wake Review*****

This was one of the games that made me buy a 360, completed it the other week. Really enjoyed it, wasn't absolutely epic or amazing but very good nonetheless. I do think it could have had perhaps a few more things to see or do but it often gave you quite an open space to play in anyway. I was impressed with how long it was too, I expected a far shorter game but I managed to keep busy by exploring everywhere, which pays off. Did think it could have done a little bit more at times to keep the atmosphere tense though, the 'scary' (if you can call it that) bits were always in your face, whereas some subtlety would have gone a long way to make the game feel far creepier.

I do have to wonder quite why it took so long for them to get it to release, it's a very polished game but it just doesn't quite feel like five years of work went into it. Interested to see where the story goes from here though, in any case.

Probably been asked, but trying to avoid spoilers - is it worth buying this?

I like Dead Space, Resident evil and so on - but I've heard it's short which puts me off...

It's worth buying if you can find it cheap. There isn't a lot of replayability in it unless you are a collection wh0re.

Definitely worth playing through once though and upcoming DLC has been confirmed to extend the length of the game (You get this free if you buy the game new). Took me around 12 hours to finish the normal run through of the game if I remember correctly.

Length wise it's about the same as Dead Space.

Lots of collection stuff to go for if you are a completionist.

Nightmare difficulty is great :D

Rainforest are doing it for ~£27.50 delivered, otherwise yeah, best walk in and buy price will be about £29.99.

Just finished Episode 1 of this and liking it so far. It's very cheesy writing, but it's kinda meant to be, so I'll let them off with points for irony. The graphics are really good, and the lighting is amazing. The faces aren't great, and it's very clearly from the same people who made Max Payne - something about the textures is very familiar, like they're meant to be seen on rigid objects seen from one angle, if that makes sense. That's a nitpick though.

I'm finding it a bit of a challenge, mainly because I've not properly got the hang of the controls! I'm sure I'll get into it though.
