Alder Lake-S leaks

If you have two systems one that draws 250w and take 4 hours, and one that is 350w and takes 25% less time, so 3 hours, then you'll use 300w in total extra.
Even if you only the that 300w per day, then you are talking a huge difference over a 3 year life span. These CPUs are certainly going to be a hard sell to companies trying to hit net zero CO2, which three is pressure on everyone to do.
It's actually pretty embarrassing for Intel really, they provide a massive total percentage of the global market of CPU's and they need to be called out making incredibly inefficient power hungry parts.

People who say it doesn't matter clearly don't give a flying fig about the planet, only themselves.
I agree totally.

Time is money baby. That 25% time saved is most likely worth far more than 50w and the business would rather buy a carbon credit to offset any coal burnt at the power plant than lose time. Energy efficiency is only a problem because countries are using non renewables for generation - if we all just use solar we can get near infinite energy from the sun
to waste on Alderlake?

I don't know why everything is thinking the Core i7 is the best value option? The Core i5 12600KF seems pretty decent,ie,great gaming performance and close to a Ryzen 7 5800X in many multithreaded benchmarks whilst being cheaper. Also DDR4 doesn't appear to make as big a difference as people expected. The Core i5 12400F and the B650/B660 with DDR4 is going to end up an excellent value pure gaming CPU IMHO.

Nice job :) was hoping someone would do it today. tsk tsk Dave ;)

I would think he would be on it quick! Maybe he has fainted at Intel being the fastest in gaming again? :p

And then Raptor Lake will beat Zen 3D. I hop this kicks off a proper tech-war between AMD and Intel.
Yep. Will mean better tech and cheaper prices. I mean if intel were ahead they would not be providing AL at the prices they are.

Jesus, intel smashing amd here. Hopefully amd don't fall behind again.
Not seen anything like that myself and I have watched HUB and read TechPowerUp reviews. We are talking about single percentages here (not even in all games as some Zen 3 is still ahead) and that is when at 720p/1080p. When at 4K the difference is 1.4% based on TPU’s review showing averages from all games benched. So would not call that smashing it personally.

Besides if what AMD claims about 3D Cache is true they will take the crown back again in a few months.

Intel really need to get onto 5nm TSMC like AMD will, otherwise they are going to actually really get smashed when Zen 4 arrives.

One thing that did annoy me is that I've just watched 4 reviews and all of them just brush over gpu bottlenecks instead of trying to do something about it.

ryzen 5000 and alder lake so so fast that even at 1080p the vast majority of games are heavily GPU bottlenecked even with a 6900xt.

This means 1080p is no longer a good resolution for a CPU benchmark until we get significantly faster GPUs. So reviewers should have used 720p for their benchmarks.

The vast majority of benchmarking I saw today ended up being a GPU benchmark not a CPU benchmark

Oh....... really???????????????????????????????????????????????????? i have only been saying this just about every day for like a year????????????

Don't worry @Grim5 need to know only, and you don't need to know what the performance difference is between these CPU's, just that you need a 10400F, because they are all the same, don't ask any more questions. ok?

Why U mad tho? Sounds like you need a vacation from forums before you have a hernia

What AMD needs to do is reduce prices IMHO. ATM,yes, you could say Z690 motherboards are pricey, but reviews show DDR4 is good enough in most cases. The issue is that Intel will release its B650/B660 motherboards at some point, and CPUs such as the Core i5 12400F.

I have solar, and I care where my money (electricity) goes.
This is why I adore what AMD have done, which is often overlooked; how much performance you get for the power used. I can run a 16 core Ryzen CPU at full load almost passively because of the low power consumption. If I compare it to some of the Dual Xeon Intel systems I've had in the past the difference is massive.

With the apparently impending climate disaster, this is what Intel really need to putting their R&D into but because they've been behind AMD on performance then all that matters is getting that 'gaming performance crown' back. Efficiency seems to have taken a back seat; that being said in gaming, according to HUB, the 12900K uses pretty much the same amount of power as the 5950X/5900X. I'm expecting the 12700K to be using a fair bit less though also giving excellent performance.

How many people on this forum would even be able to tell the difference between a 10400F and 12900k with a 3090@1440p or above with no fps OSD?
