So no chance the 12900k is gonna be around £440 then? I've read a few price leaks now and they're all over the place and some stating no fixed price, upto retailer to charge what they want... great.
Looks like the:
i5 around £300
i7 around £550
i9 around £725
Why is the i7 near double the price of the i5?
The extra cost of PCI-E 5 and DDR5 maybe?
fair point, still on the fence with this new chip. Will be intels first consumer mainstream chiplet design for the masses, im wondering whether to wait for the next gen for things to get ironed out and cheaper DDR5 of course.3D stacking is the holy grail of silicon chips.
The 12900K was never going to be £440, £300 for the 12700K and £200 for the 12600K? these are huge dies, Intel would be giving them away at that, in the last few years Intel's margins have fallen from 65% to 56%, with AMD's margins approaching 50% Intel will be desperate not to fall any further because margins is how investors judge the health of a company.![]()
Aren't they all PCIe 5 / DDR5?

Also the problem of getting a hold of a bracket to accommodate my waterblock to fit the Alderlake cpu and if it would even be big enough to cover the ihs?
If they are getting 15% extra performance on average from stacking the cache how can it be meaningless? Stacking the chiplets will be nextIt's like 1995 all over again. Some 3D games, please?!

What would you like to see happen to the existing architecture exactly?
Lol, i thought it was a reasonable question...."What would you like to see happen to the existing architecture exactly?"
Slow down man hold your horses this is way too much advancement way too fast for me to ridicule......
Don't forget when zen 3 released the prices were £900 5950X £750 5900X £500 5800X £350 5600X so it's probably some retailer scalping.6 + 4 so 16 Threads for the i5 apparently, with 10 real cores it will be faster than the 5600X and at least as fast if not faster than the 5800X.
AMD have some room to move pricing but it will depend on the price of DDR5 and Intel's motherboards, no matter how much people like to point at the price of the CPU's the RAM and board can end up costing more than the CPU and in this case you will need them to make up the rest of the system.
Right now you can get my system for:
Board: £140
RAM: £125
CPU: £340
Total: £605
If the i5 system ends up costing £700 it might not be all that attractive, especially if AMD chop another 40 / £50 off the CPU.
And then there is gaming performance, anyone thinking "IPC is higher so of-course gaming is going to be higher" Not mentioning any names..... JayZ2Cents Just think 'Rocket Lake'.
Paid £750 for my 5950X first week of December last year which was MRSP, some stores were charging a "premium" thoughDon't forget when zen 3 released the prices were £900 5950X £750 5900X £500 5800X £350 5600X so it's probably some retailer scalping.
Same price today on OCUK, so is my 10850K bought last Sept £420Paid £750 for my 5950X first week of December last year which was MRSP, some stores were charging a "premium" though

Why is the i7 near double the price of the i5?
Probably due to its performance VS AMD, with the i7 matching or beating the ryzen 9 5900x it can be priced high
Right....

I don't think they are massive, bigger definitely thou, pictures of the socket have been leaked, and it shows it's just expanded down a bit, because they can't make it any bigger and keep it square shaped as it would advance towards the memory slots, I guess that's why Xeon and TR are that shape too, I mean they have only added another 500 pins, so what's that %35-%40 bigger?See the picture of that CPU. It’s massive.
mate they going to include sledge for CPUs like Xeon and threadrippers?
