Alec Baldwin fatally shoots woman with prop gun on movie set

They must be able to build replica guns by now that can simulate the noise and smoke well enough for films without even having to load blanks, how hard can it be!

This was a few days ago also:

Kid is going to get paid for his mothers death, unrelated ghouls will not be allowed to snoop at the details.

Also they might at some point get around to finishing the film and it can join the others that had awkward deaths.

Very easy, there's no need to use live guns in filming, none at all.

CGI and sound effects have come a long way.

That said I don't think there was any intent to harm here, it was an accident, wreckless, stupid, irresponsible, and easily preventable.

Hopefully this will serve as a lesson to the film industry and will see an end to firearms being used as props.

Loads of film productions use firearms absolutely safely.

For no apparent reason.

Talking in terms of risk management, if the actor can't hold a fake gun and fake the recoil, then they are a bad actor.

Likewise if the effects team can't do a barrel flash, sound effects, and smoke, they are a bad effects team.

There's simply no reason to use real guns when making a film in this day and age.

get away with murder

DEFINITION
  1. INFORMAL
succeed in doing whatever one chooses without being punished or suffering any disadvantage:
"some local authorities are letting estate agents get away with murder"

Well he's definitely going to be paying a large sum to the son of the woman and this is a huge black mark on his social record which will haunt anything he's associated with in the future.

Apart from that what have the Romans ever done for us he's not getting punished or suffering any disadvantage.

The reason is to make it look real. The CGI looks crap in comparison. Cars kill more people in film production than firearms do, so why bother using those as well...

Firearms have been used thousands of times in the production of movies and TV shows without issue, you just need to follow the rules.

you just need to follow the rules.

And run a production somewhat competently taking health and safety seriously - as mentioned before the bodycams and other footage from the production show vast amounts of incompetence, carelessness and people well out of their depth, etc. (not just chaos or shock due to the event).
