Alex Jones..

So I've watched some of his stuff since this thread, it does kind of stink that he was simultaneously gotten rid of on all these different platforms #conspiracy

It doesnt stink, do people really think that companies don't talk to one another? They do it all the time at tech events and soirees, perhaps Jones got tiresome enough that they all agreed, which is far more likely than some CIA plot (lol whatever) to control these companies to ban a single man.

Yes I think they all talked and agreed, that's what I think stinks.

Well gee, they're human too and can do as they please on their own billion (perhaps trillion) dollar platforms, we're all just ants in comparison. The fact is these companies will eventually rule the world, better get used to it now.

This is the first multilateral incident i can think of between these behemoths, it's the beginning of the end of national governments.

Muhahahaha.

In a way I'm thankful for the barbra streisand effect, gonna watch Alex on the Joe Rogan podcast this afternoon, thanks OCUK and facebook :D

This isnt the Streisand effect, this is just downsizing, hell even "youporn" banned him.

Sure it might make some realise he exists, which is whatever, of course it would, Streisand was specifically attempting to hide illicit photographs which brought attention as she then had something to hide. In this case, Jones was already very active on these platforms and ultimately it's not that they're trying to hide him, he's just not allowed back in. They couldn't care less about his publicity from this.

Another possibility is that once one made the decision it made it easier for the others who may have been waiting for someone else to go first.

Companies are often reluctant to be the first to do something that might cause a backlash, be it raising their prices, pulling advertising off a platform, stopping sponsorship of someone/something, or kicking a high profile idiot off their service.
Once one does it though, it becomes easier for the others are often a lot of the ire of those who are unhappy with the decision then goes to that first company.

Clicked on link, ctrl+f Alex, nothing, jones, nothing, infowars nothing. Did you post the wrong link? I'm interested to learn more, just not sure where to start with all this stuff.

Cause and effect aren't so easy to contemplate seemingly in modern society, or indeed some are willfully ignoring that someone's language is indeed very powerful and can easily cause actions to happen that otherwise would not have.

It was a fact that the Pizzagate started in the vestiges of internet hell ( i think it was 4chans conspiracy page or reddits i don't know particularly), and Mr Jones pushed it as he would because it's a conspiracy and he's a seller of conspiracy, so while no... there is no DIRECT connection, it's very obviously added stress into a situation where vulnerable (idiots) people will act on them or indeed not even vulnerable (idiots), but simply evil (Brievik).

You can choose to ignore it if you wish, but many societies fail when ignorance is allowed to fester, need not look very far either, there's dozens of examples in Africa and the Middle-east to prove just how unstable the relationship is. I'm sure people are entirely scared of what maybe justifiable pressures on their "group", but devolving to medieval social standards is not the solution.

It's funny how Trump supporters claim to be against fake news, but complain when Alex Jones is kicked off Facebook.

I didn't post the wrong link. If you want articles that specifically discuss Alex Jones' role in the promotion of Pizzagate, read these:

'Anatomy of a Fake News Scandal.'

''Pizzagate' gunman pleads guilty as conspiracy theorist apologizes over case.'

'Conspiracy Theorist Alex Jones Apologizes For Promoting 'Pizzagate'.'

You think that allowing companies to enforce their own terms of service is giving them 'far too much power and control'?

Honestly, are you just trying to be argumentative? Do you really think it's a good idea a handful of companies control information on the internet. Wasn't the whole point of the internet to avoid this sort of thing?

Really Youtube and Facebook control all the information on the internet?

I remember when there were these things called find things or locate something Search Engines that didn't need to run through facebook or youtube, and you could even remember the names of sites you were interested in, and make notes of them, some of those old fashioned browsery thingies even used to let you mark them down as places you liked to visit, I think they called them bookmarks.
Admittedly these things tend to require people actually go to more than one site, and they may (horror of horrors) have to make use of more than just the links on their homepage.

The only thing that these companies have done is stopped providing him free advertising and use of their services, oddly enough companies and sites can survive quite well without running everything through the youtubes or the bookfaces,

No one is stopping Jones and his happy band of hucksters from having a presence on the internet, all that is happening is that companies are deciding they don't want to support him by having him using their services.
