Punitive damages. He's seen to have done something so wicked that he must be punished financially to the full extent of the courts powers. The court can't send him to prison but they can punish him financially.
Noticed the Alex Jones vs the NWO game is on steam sale. Certainly entertaining if you're a fan of Metal Slug and would recommend for the current price tag!

It's a game made by (for) Alex Jones, with all the AJ "anti-woke" tropes you could imagine to appeal to the emotionally stunted types who actually like AJ.

There's an Alex Jones game on Steam, and it's just as much of an embarrassment as you'd expect
400+ positive Steam reviews and counting, though.
The game is potentially being added to the all or nothing firesale of AJs assets and IPs, infowars being the biggest item, being sold next Tues. If it's not added, I assume AJ will still own the rights.
It looks like the moneys raised from the firesale will be going to the Sandyhook settlement, but the future royalties would go to the new owner.
And from what I've read, there's a lot of his major supporters looking to buy the firesale lot to keep infowars and the rest going. So it depends who gets it as to whether AJs legacy is saved or buried, as his fans said they would employ him to still run the show.

Did The Onion buy all the IP and trademarks as part of the purchase of Infowars?
As i'm sure Jones trademarked his name/likeness which i would think could make things interesting if he wanted to use 'Alex Jones' in the future (for another shows/project).

They can't own his name. He already has Alex Jones Network.
If you are left or right, it is ludicris to fine him 1.4 billion.
You can buy the name but you won't by the movement which will carry on.

You absolutely can buy the name if its been converted to a business asset.
He would be able to setup something similar as long as its deemed far enough away from what has been sold.
Eg he would probably lose a case if he tried to setup InfoWarz, or Infowar2 with Alex Jones.
If he setup something new completely unrelated then he would be ok.
I mean however is he going to want to rinse repeat the same stuff or go with a different angle, who knows.
His lies regarding Sandy Hook literally drove someone to suicide, and other grieving parents were subjected to death threats and vile abuse.
What kind of movement can possibly excuse that abhorrent behaviour?
