We're approximatley a year from the release of Alien: Covenant which seems to almost be a reboot of Prometheus or at least a more fan orientated prequel to Alien.

A new thread seemed a good idea? if not please remove:)

Some good set photos and story elements are surfacing which I think will please many fans:

As noted by Malevolence in the original Prom 2 thread:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18694599&page=6

Scified.com has a great collection:

https://www.scified.com/news/new-al...ting-depiction-of-an-eradicated-alien-species

and an interesting theory about Weyland-yutani!

https://www.scified.com/topic/42025

Note:

This is looking like it's the movie most fans were hoping Prometheus would be.

I enjoyed Prometheus and hoped to see Shaws story evolve... this doesnt seem to be case unfortunatley but its news which will please many who
felt it wasn't what they expected and voiced there views repeatedly in this thread:D can we keep this tread on topic using the original Prometheus thread to moan please:)

Prometheus 2 Thread : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18694599

Note 2: Alien 5 is also to come! which will take place after Aliens (many of the surviving original cast are on board!!!:D) but release has been delayed until after Alien: Covenant.

Additional Info:

Interview with John Logan (Screenwriter):

https://www.scified.com/news/screen...alien-covenant-facehuggers-and-chestbursters

The story so far seems to point to the 'Covenant' of the title being the central Ship with it's crew made up of Weylan - Yutani operatives

Images of crew Emblem :

https://www.scified.com/news/20th-...ial-alien-covenant-weyland-yutani-crew-emblem

The look and feel apparently will be in line with Alien. Technologically the 'Covenant' will be less advanced than the 'Prometheus'

Michael Fassbender has given some clues to this:

https://www.scified.com/news/unlik...-will-look-old-school-says-michael-fassbender

Previously it has been rumoured that we will see multiple 'Davids' with the original 'David' possibly being a protagonist...

more to come:)

[update]

21/6/16 - it appears 'Shaw' will appear in Covenant!!

Not specifically Alien : Covenant news but looks worth checking out to get ready for the return of an old friend:cool:

Alien: The Weyland-Yutani Report

Those sound effects... takes me back to my first encounter with the Xenomorph:cool::o

Parts of that sound very much like parts of the" Prometheus : The Complete Fire and Stone" graphic novels, which from memory were stories started before changes to the script for Prometheus.
I think the book mentions the writers/artists had to make changes to the GN's at fairly short notice when they were informed the script had changed for the film.

One of the things I've found interesting about Alien and Prometheus is how many of the ideas from one version of the film script turn up in other media related to them and vice versa.
I think parts of the rejected Aliens 3 scripts made it into 4 and effectively into Prometheus, I also seem to recall bits from various original Alien comics making it into the later films in altered versions (I'm fairly sure the end of Alien 4 mirrors a scene from the start of one of the comics from Dark Horse from before Alien 3)

I must admit I'm not au fait with the comics but I have read a few articles that follow the same train of thought Werewolf. I'll have to check them out it will have to keep me occupied until release:)

I've also read comments which point to Covenant having elements from the original 'Star Beast' script? perhaps things Ridley couldn't do in the 70's he's going to be able to do now:cool:

Giger's art was full sex and eroticism, most of it not particularly subtle either.

I always assume people have seen Giger's work. If the above offends anyone (really?) probably best not to look any further or at least be sitting down with smelling salts to hand!:o:D

I'm so confused by the whole Prometheus thing. I thought that they weren't actually connected despite the obvious similarities.

I think Ridley said at the time he wanted to go back and answer the questions raised by Alien.

*Who was the Space Jockey?

*Why had the ship crashed and where had the hazardous cargo come from and what was it's purpose...?

*Who had left the warning beacon?

*What did the company really know before diverting the Nostromo?

Originally there were going to be three films which would ultimately link to Alien so I guess:

*Prometheus - new film in the Alien universe

*Alien : Covenant - Sequel to Prometheus more Alien elements and more familiar xenomorphs.

*Alien : ???? the purpose of the Engineers and the Xenomorphs is revealed with there creators also now part of the mythos. Linking to Alien allowing Ripley her first encounter...

*Alien 5: Picking up after Aliens we see what really happened to Ripley, Newt, Bishop etc

That's how I can imagine things will progress but who knows:cool:

Is this going to turn out to be the worst kept secret like Jon Snow is definitely NOT in GoT Season 6 ? :)

I think the real secret will be more to do with what Shaw is to become? If Giger's work is the inspiration it could be terrifying!!!

I'm against popular opinion in that I really like Alien 3, it's a decent film and the directors cut/workprint edit makes it a much better movie. It was a fitting end and I don't particularly want to see it wiped out. It;'s only Weaver/Fox interfering which made it such a mess on initial release.

I enjoyed it as well but I'm glad we'll may be see more of Newts and bishops story... with a leap of imagination nothing will be forgotten:)

Your wish is my command.
...

That's adorable, hilarious and rather disturbing!!:p

I've never seen that before thanks for posting it varkanoid:)

it reminds me of...

:eek::D

Yeah Alien: Covenant is next year and Neil Blomkampf's Alien movie is ... We don't know exactly when.

I think both have good chance of being good.

I'm really looking forward to this as everything is pointing to this being the movie everyone was hoping Prom would be (even though I really enjoyed it I know a few didn't:o:D)

whilst we wait patiently wondering weather to read further updates in case of spoilers or not here's Robot chickens take on the Alien universe:cool:

A Jetson's reboot? I'm telling you now you wont guess the climax!

Alien Slapstick!

:D

LOL never seen those before. We'll maybe get a teaser before the years end, which will be cool.

:D

I hope so Burr a trailer would be great.

I think Prometheus's trailer, particularly it's soundtrack and the slowly building warning siren really worked well:

The viral videos and marketing also created great interest which I guess ultimately did leave some disappointed. Let's hope Fox has learnt from that hopefully allowing Ridley to further the universe in the way we all hope:cool:

On a side note has anyone else seen Noomi Repace's shooting test with Rafe Spall playing the part of David? I can't post a link as it has rude words:o:D but it's worth a watch. It reminds me of an 80's episode of Doctor who:cool:

Problem with this artwork as I see it is this.

:eek::eek::eek::eek: (:eek: INFINITY)

Giger's work can be said to be: disturbing, terrifying etc and this in itself can be a problem for some but I think most would agree the Xenomorph and all it's forms are at the apex of Science Fiction protagonists!!!

....gets off high horse....:o:p

I'll leave this to Ripley...

Harsh but fair Ripley...:p

(I've been wanting to post that clip for ages thanks for the opportunity Running:D)

Ripley didn't mean it really she's just a bit grumpy from all that time in stasis!!!:p

Watching Alien now. Alien /aliens and Terminator/t2 films are the absolute pinnacle of Sci Fi movies. Nothing really comes close. Maybe The Thing is up there too but that generation of movies puts current efforts to shame.

Phenomenal film. Totally fantastic.

I hope they can capture some of the brilliance of originals.

Don't forget Predator. :p - Which incidentally is getting another film in the series too.

I always think Arnie's Total Recall belongs in that clutch of movies. It has the same kind of look/feel about it.

They also show that animatronics and good set design is more timeless than all the cgi stuff we get given these days.

the first pics from the martian

:o:D

... however it could be something else I suppose.

I'm looking forward to finding out!

I've seen those images before. I'm gonna make an educated guess nd say that hand IS NOT the hand of the alien. Have you seen the leaked pics of the engineers fighting with something? Looks like they've been turned to stone. Of course those could be placeholders for SFX.

Very Pompeii:

Michael Fassbender & Noomi Rapace will both be in the movie. Fassbender will *likely* be portraying 2 different androids. It's been stated that the original Prometheus David will be on the planet the Covenant visits.

I also wonder how the name Covenant will be important to the movie?

A 'David' with dark hair!
IV9caG5.jpg.png

I like the theory that:
David '8' some how takes over the new David creating a possible jekyll and hyde situation add the xenomorph into the mix = CARNAGE!!!

varkanoid why are you spamming the threads with rubbish fake trailers? ban tbh

I`m not spamming use some intelligence.

The above "fake" trailer is relevant because if you look at 1 min 40 seconds you will see a creature (that I believe is from P1) that has a very similar hand to the one from the pre-production shot in the spoiler. Therefore it could be an alien that appears in P2.

Or.... It could just be the one at the end of Prometheus :p

its the same one.

Et7udJl.gif

See, you're all wrong it was Mr Travolta himself!!!! see...:p:D

Yes I instantly thought of the Deacon as well vark... a full size Deacon!!!!: :cool:

I really want to see a Trailer before Christmas fingers crossed:)

Great poster!

Huge amount of spoilers out there so if that bothers you beware.

I don't want to jinx it but I think this is going to be a must see... everything I've read suggests this is the movie every fan has been waiting for:cool::)

Don't hold your breath, the hype around Prometheus was a lot bigger than this and look how that turned out. I was totally immersed in everything to the build up of that movie as this thread can attest:

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18037952

Don't get me wrong, I really liked it at the time and still do but I can pick holes and faults in it all day long.

I hear what you're saying Six:)

I feel the components for great movie were there for Prometheus but I think outside interference and it's influence resulted in a bad edit and a hampered script. The desire to perhaps create another trilogy resulted in more mystery when fans were ready for answers to old questions in preparation for new ones.

I've hoped we would have a directors cut replacing scenes which were cut and perhaps using some of the viral marketing (such as Vickers interviews) to help explain why a supposedly intelligent group of scientists would make such stupid decisions.

On reflection I feel that someone who followed the marketing etc and the clues within had perhaps a fuller and more satisfying viewing of Prometheus than others who just simply went to watch the movie. Hopefully this will be something considered going forward.

I think the trailer will give us our initial answer to whether Covenant will be the movie we've all been waiting for...

so fingers crossed!!!:D

I didn't watch any of the viral marketing or trailers because I didn't want to have anything given away before I watched the film, considering how "bad" modern trailers are at spoiling the film, and I don't think that it's a good marketing idea to have the only people who "got" the film to be those who did see all the extra stuff first as 90% of people won't do that.
I did the same with The Force Awakens (avoided everything prior to release) and found the film was much better for it, rather than much worse.

That's what I was implying. That it was a mistake.. not that it was a good idea:confused:

That's why I said "Hopefully this will be something considered going forward" at the end of my train of thought.

I agree with you Ian that avoiding modern trailers seems to be the right way to go these days, but I'll be unable to resist this time:o:D

LOL, I realised and was agreeing with you but it's just come across poorly, damn written word :D

I know the feeling Ian:o:D

I'll let Jack demonstrate our frustration
