Got beaten badly :)

yes it is a ref board. A 290x tri-x with hynix ram.

And yes 980 is very strong in games and benchies.

Still dont think its time for me 2 uppgrade,
maybe when Titan 2 comes or 390x:)

Btw still waiting for my phasechange and chillers.
Got a felling my 290x:s like cold

Did a test run at 1440p on a 4k screen got 101fps avg with 1310/1675.
You can be safe Silentscone.
I nead a better dp cable....:( i lost dp signal when going over 1.42v on core, So no 1330+ core without better cable.....

It is not the cable it is the cards. My 290Xs sometimes lose signal as well but my Titans and GTX 690s don't have a problem using the same cables.

Do amd have any fix for the weak dp signal Kaapstad?
Or is it a silicon flaw........

Think 290x with 1330core+ is very close a gtx 980 on 1440p in this bench.

I don't think it is a flaw or fault.

It only happens on mine when getting close to max oc with much higher volts than you would put through an NVidia card (probably why they don't suffer from it). It also only happens on mine at 4K when the cards are stretched to the max with what they are outputting each frame.

Must agree with Silent scone
The vga port on 290x are happy when putting 1.43v+ true core. Only when use dp port i got prob when going over 1.42+ core.
Doesnt matter of clocks of core.

it lost signal when was on stock clocks but with 1.43volt on core:(

So 1000/1250 with 1.43v core no go on dp port on my 290x no heat prob.:(

with vga port and 1.43+ i am heat constrained but can bench with 1340/1700....:)

I just tried 1.412v on my cards with no OC and tried to run Firestrike @4K, no good I lost the signal as well.

I think you would be wasting your money on different cables though as I have quite a few and they all lose the signal.:(

Can i ask both of you to share with my your dxdiag reports so i can report this issue. Upload to sendspace and post here please.

I do hope Amd fix this for next gen cards this i most likly a disign flaw in the 290 series of gpu. Hope Amd matt get a word with Amd on this problem......

290 have a very powerful core but with a sucky dp controller on board:mad:

BTW good that you confirmed my experiments with volt Kaapstad this confirm that the dp controller dont like volt on 290:s....

Edit Damn Amd Matt is fast with response:D

Good Grief how many volts? 1.35v is scary enough for me.

Volt of its self is not prob for silicon. Heat is
Cooler load temps = higher volt = more oc
Have run 1.43v 24/7 with my 290x in 8 mounts no degradation with loadtemps in 40:s.

Maybe its time to watercool Humbug and Amd matt so you can show people the true potential of the cards.
GCN like volts and cold and scale sick with clocks;)

Edit
Think 1.52v is doable with chiller (load temps in 5-15+)
I will se soon when toys arrive:)
1400+ core on 290:s yes please:D

I have water on the CPU, with my next build i might move up to water on the GPU.

Btw why does not ocuk have any phase and chiller sections

Does not Kaapstad and Newit have chillers and Alatar and Newit phasechange....
Maybe it are some more users with chiller/phase experience to?
