Played it quite a bit more. I'm enjoying it despite the peformance issues as some general jankiness.
The most annoying thing is the save system, as there don't seem to be any autosaves. A few times I've had to repeat long sections of gameplay because it's been a while since I encountered a safe room where you can save.
It need to have an auto-save before difficult sections.
The aliens themselves look great when they're scuttling around the ceiling but look pretty stiff and jerky when running around on foot.
I'm not a fan of the built in virtual stock for the weapons. It sort of snaps to the the firing position. The Light Brigade did two handed weapons way better.
All said though, the atmosphere is spot on, and the environments are great. Love the retro-tech feel.
I find playing it on Virtual Desktop using the H264+ codec working really well as the contrast (on the Pro) is spot on. This game is doing something very right with the lighting because the local dimming on the pro works really well here, with inky blacks with no haloing. You need your flashlight in the dark areas, while Metro Awakening just looks really washed out and with halos around everything. It looked pretty bad on PSVR2 too, with lots of mura, so presumably Alien Incursion is actually using a better dynamic range of colour.
